I'm 60 years old. I remember the Reagan years very clearly.

I thought there was only one season. They canceled it, probably because it was actually a good show. As there have only ever been about four good shows in the history of television, they obviously could not allow one such to continue. Actually, didn't they cancel it before the end of the first season?

(Yes, I am late responding. I've been off line for a couple of weeks.)

Maybe in the ball-park, but this may be even more obscure --

In the 1960's & 70's, Israel manufactured a boxy little fiberglass vehicle called 'Susita' (= 'little horse') that was said to be rather tasty for camels. But this was mostly legend ...

Welcome back! You're right about Firefly Daniel. (Wrong about there being only "four good shows in the history of television" but we can leave that for another thread. ;))

Fox canceled Firefly just short of a full season. I think 14 episodes were filmed although not all of them were aired. The DVD set contains all of the episodes in the correct order (storywise). The whole experience left Mr. Whedon (the creator, producer and sometimes writer of the show) very bitter. He basically swore off any future association with the Fox Network.

    Nope, not the Susita.

Big Hint; it had a two-stroke engine.

Thanks for the hint, Sam - Must be the East German Trabant, made of fiberglass.
But what man-made bactrium chewed on them ??

I still see them occasionally on ebay; but I don't think we'll find them on the thread "Cars that make you smile"

Yes, the answer is the much-maligned Trabant. The body was made of Duroplast, formed from waste cotton coated with an edible polymer. There are several scenes in the film "Black Cat White Cat" where pigs are shown eating a Trabant. By the end of the film they've consumed it all.

    Your turn Spectra...

yikes, what a bizarre ending to the cold war !

    New trivial question --

Before Jefferson Airplane, Grace Slick headed up a different band. It wasn't very well known, but made an impression on this adolescent glued to FM-radio --

    What was that earlier band?

    Ans: "Grace Slick and _____?______?________"

Don't know her earlier band, but my copy of the Airplane's first LP lists Signe Anderson on vocals, no Grace.

:music: You mean 'Jeff. Airplane Takes Off"? Right-o, that included Signe Anderson as female lead. But, with the birth of her child, she left, and was replaced by Grace Slick, who remained throughout.

Maybe to rephrase my question --

What was Grace Slick's previous group, which she left in order to join the Airplane? :hippie: :drum:

(Hint: Took it's name from one of Pres. Lyndon Johnson's big social programs)

Like "The Just Society" or something? I don't remember the band at all, but the social program sounds vaguely, distantly familiar. (Much like the rest of the 60s)

Actually, I do remember the 60s. I was too young at the time to really know what was going on.

For the next question. what celebrity was 'discovered' at a football game?

Are you talking about Pamela Anderson on the t.v monitor at the game? Hyo, I think that you have a fascination with someone. ;)
I have seen her E! True Hollywood Story about 10 times.

Yes, that's who I was thinking of. The jumbotron at BC Place, before the bleach and the balloons.

I haven't seen that show once. Methinks maybe you're the one with the fascination. ;)

That could be it, or maybe I just need to learn how to channel surf.

Here is another question. What are the names of the British comedy duo who are famous for spoofing movies on their long running sketch comedy show?

I take it either no one knows or no one is interested. Here is a hint, they are both women.

Nope, the two in question are known together by their last names.
