Buy your SUV now! All GM SUV owners 2008+ with an engine displacement of at least 5.5L will get a guaranteed* spot at the front of the line to buy a Volt when** it comes out and a $500 electricity/gas card as our way of saying thank you!

    * - guarantee subject to production line capacity. Trade-ins not welcome, Volt must be purchased in addition to baby-killer.

Not sure how you classify the ad as a "campaign"; all I've seen is a single video with an adult and a bunch of kids listening to an engine hum.

They promised nothing in the ad; they stated their vision of one future of the automobile, right or wrong it's just a vision, not a promise.

You must have missed the numerous print ads that discuss their gas friendly to gas free and the Volt specific ads. On top of that, the at least once a week article talking about the Volt in some form or fashion. I have seen stories of it in magazines (such as Popular Science) months ago talking about the Volt coming out in 2009 and there still isn't a firm release date for 2010.

    Who knows?
Neither Toyota or GM has made whatever it is they'e GOING to make. Though obfuscation of GM's shortcommings via talking about Toyota misses the point. But on your tangent ~ One thing's for certain. The rav4ev is NOTHING like GM's PR spin, aka Volt. If ANYTHING, the Volt (should it ever get off the drawing board) would be more akin the the EV1 ... unique parts ... one of a kind manufacturing ... which is JUST how GM likes it. That way, (should it ever get off the drawing board) when GM pulls the plug in it, the way they did the EV1, they have a legitimate excuse to crush all of them. "There aren't be any available parts" because no other present day cars have interchangable parts. GM is already talking about leasing the Batteries (once they establish a propreitary chemestry). De ja vu.

I guess as Gm falls behind on thier sales and Toyota is moving up in beating the largest motor company it can seem that GM has to make a move to regain it reputation. So many american car company's are not up to technology with gas efficent vehicles. Who is there to blame maybe the government?
