Husker4theSpurs, when I saw your post I really, really thought that with over 200 posts on this site and updates on what you are doing re getting on lists etc, that you must be the USA's greatest procrastinator...... or a "super-lurker".... and then I saw your last post... about bloody time young man, took you long enough to get one, now please DO ENJOY IT, because like most people on here you bought it because you WANTED it, and who cares about the economics and paybacks ?

By the way congratulations and good luck getting rid of your other vehicles !

Congratulations! (and nice color choice, by the way)

It's likely you would have had a long long wait indeed for SUV values to bounce back up (or to find another available new Prius, had you decided to purchase later). We got our Prius in November. Friends say 'oh you were so smart, look at gas prices now.'
We think it was a smart choice, period, rising gas prices or not.

    Awwww... that's a heart-warming story. ;)
If you had an MDX in the first place, you probably have the money to afford a Prius, even with a less-than-ideal trade. Good that you got what you wanted in a relatively short time. Welcome to the club!

Alright!! Excellent decision. Just wait in a few weeks you will be laughing at the SUV market and you will be so so glad that you dumped that SUV.. There would have been no way that you could have even sold it privately for what you were wanting for it. You will not regret this decision and will be smiling to yourself for a long time..

Of course you are going to make up what you lost on the SUV in no time with the gas savings. Just think how much you were already spending on gas monthly, doesn't take long for it to add up.

I dumped my SUV 2 months ago, even though it was a 4cyl SUV, the Toyota dealership still cannot sell it and they already had to lower their price by $500. I saw it sitting there on the lot Saturday when I went to my new owner function.

Congrats on your new Prius and post some pics when you get the tinting done.

I already am glad I went ahead and did the deal. I knew this was what I wanted and I didn't want to deal with selling my car or waiting around to sell my car for the right price. Sometimes money can't be the only object ...

I am SO happy with my model, color, and pkg choice as well ... VERY anxious to get the windows tinted as there are seemingly so many windows in the Prius. If the car had better seats and a little better stereo I'd have to say it's 100% the best car I've ever had, but it still is great regardless!

I traded in my Murano early before the value of it dropped even more. I have been without it for almost 2 weeks. The Prius is suppose to be here by the end of July. The dealer did offer me KBB for it since they were charging me MSRP for the Prius. I think I lucked out in that aspect. But, not having a car has been troublesome. But, public transportation has been quite good and easy to get around.

Maybe you should have talked about your trade when you looked at the Prius 6 months ago. I am sure your MDX was worth a lot more. I would try Carmax or just list your MDX on eBay. If you don't sell it your out $40. If you do $100.

I checked with CarMax, but it wasn't enough more to make up for the savings in sales tax. I only had to wait 5 weeks, so not talking trade value back then wasn't as big of a misstep. Oh well ... over and done now.
