Harleys make financial sense to some . . . especially to those who otherwise would have NO personality.

It was a tough choice for many Harley riders - between paying for a badass Harley personality or paying for a badass Hummer personality.

Soon they figure out they made the wrong choice.
As it turns out, the Hummer is more reliable and, walking down the freeway in your leathers because your Harley broke down again is just NOT a cool look. :p

Every single motorcycle I've seen sitting on the side of the road suffering a breakdown have been Harleys. How uncool is that! Well, I'm guessing you're cool with it . . . job security and all. :)

Wow that's down right mean. And I thought I was the mean one around here. I can't attest to their reliablilty because I've never owned a Harley (or any other motorcycle), but they do look and sound cool.

Electric cars charged with home roof mounted solar panels.

Of course, there are still victims . . . the utility companies, oil companies, and internal combustion engine mechanics.

But then, so were Conestoga wagon makers when newfangled horseless carriages started showing up.

Steve, congratulations on your very personal choice. I wish you and your partner the very same good cheer as I would offer any couple in the throws of marital bliss. Good for you to be able to publicly declare your commitment before god and your family and friends and to having the same rights as any committed couple. Much love!

Aah, just some good-natured motorcycle rivalry . . . that is until you get the pack mentality of Harley riders/walkers riled up . . . then you never know how they will lash out.

    Steve,
    Congrats on your marriage!!

And the website idea for Sally Kern is brilliant. I just checked, though, and the link to the original YouTube video doesn't work.

thats 1st grade stuff, mean would be the guy on a corn popper not stopping to help his brother, when in fact all harley riders, self included several times, have made extra efforts to get his bro down the road..whoever they may be. and yes they do sound and look cool, the way a scooter should sound

UNLIKE A PRIUS, or you . . . most Harley riders/walkers/tow truck callers have to pay for frequent and expensive repairs which aren't reimbursed when they finally get smart and sell that unreliable money pit.
NO. I've met businessmen, judges, and doctors whom even a Harley couldn't give them a personality. So, does it rub off the other way? Do you become a success riding with them? Or do they just like having you along because you can fix their bikes when they break.
Hahhh! You admit it! You need a cell phone with you to call for a tow. Never needed to myself. :D
There is a difference between a physical breakdown for no good reason (Harley) and a crash because some stupid kid was over-pushing their or the road's limit. I don't ride like that.
I also scuba dive, ski, snowboard, water ski, surf, wind surf, kayak, and rock climb. Never been hurt doing any of these things. Next on my list to add . . . hang gliding.

    No, I don't hate gays.
I have gay and lesbian friends that I get along with just fine.
But, if you wish to get back to the subject . . . Gay marriage... it makes financial sense!! . . .

"Financial sense" (an economic windfall for California) is not a reason to get married or allow gay marriage. If that were true, then one can surmise that three-way marriage, marriage between humans and animals, or even removing age of consent laws and allowing adults to marry children (how young would then be too young) MAKE FINANCIAL SENSE!

On the other hand, getting married often does make financial sense for the two people involved in a marriage, regardless of any differences that may or may not exist in their respective gender.

For example, in California the County governments are generally not allowed to increase the valuation of a home, and thus the taxes due, until it changes hands, usually by means of a sale. However, being anxious to get around this restriction, the state had decided that if a piece of property goes through probate court to the beneficiary of a will, this is a transfer for tax purposes.

An exception was made for a surviving spouse, this seemingly reasonable since the death of a spouse is often coincident with financial hardship. Now that my husband and I are married, should one of us die it will not result in higher property taxes for the survivor.

As for the issue of the justification for gay marriage, the California Supreme Court found that marriage is a constitutionally protected right under California law, and that there was a history of discrimination against gay people. If you would like to read the entire 172 page document in PDF form, I have preserved a copy of it on one of my many dozens of websites. I think it is an especially clearly written and well worded document, but I make no secret of my personal bias in this matter (I can has civil rights!).

    http://aintnogod.com/images/S147999.PDF

The objections I have heard to gay marriage are based on religious beliefs to which I do not subscribe. I'm OK with people who believe gay marriage is wrong refraining from marrying a person of the same gender. Some folks seem to have missed the point that although gay marriage is now legal in California, it remains strictly optional.

I do not wish to force anyone, Christian or otherwise, to marry or not marry anyone. It is not gay people that are trying to force their wishes on anyone, it is those who would not choose to marry a gay person saying that nobody else should be able to either. All that I want is equal rights under the law, and now that I do have equal rights under the law it pleases me greatly.

The first European settlers in this country were seeking to escape the imposition of religious beliefs in which they did not participate. How ironic that today we have Fundamentalist Christians seeking to force everyone to live according to their religious beliefs. In a land founded on the concept of religious freedom, one vocal and malicious minority wants to force their narrow religious views on everyone. Tsk, tsk, tsk. I am a member of the Freedom From Religion Foundation for reasons that are obvious.

It has become increasingly clear in recent months which way the history of this issue will develop. I just wish some folks would hurry up and get over it.

Could they get nastier? A lot I don't know why they bother, why not just sign over their assets to 2 law firms and walk away while they fight between them for a share. Because once the lawyers get involved the assets all go to them anyway.

Everyone should have the right to marry whom ever they share a mutual love and I fail to understand how 2 men (or 2 women) getting married impacts on anyone else.
