Bloke I work with worked out today, it would cost him $230AU to fill up his Toyota Prado from bone dry, empty.

You know how the force of wind speed is F = k(v)^2 ? How does force vary with velocity in water? Water is a fluid, but much less "elastic" than air. I live near a harbor - some of those yachts hold 2,000 gallons. It's crazy. I would think sailboat sales would be up right now. Free energy.

Redhandeddenial, I know two people who own those F650 trucks. They used to drive them all the time. Today, they pretty much just sit in the driveway. The people that I know live on a ranch, have horses, and own a [really good] barbecue restaurant, so they will probably keep the trucks as part of the image even if they don't drive them much. What's ironic is that was a brand new model for Ford and came out just as gas prices were starting to increase. Unfortunate timing.

The F650 is all around "unfortunate," not just in its timing! That monstrosity is not about utility, it's 100% image, and it's a bad image. Nobody wants to lift their hay bales 5 feet up just to get them into the bed of their pickup truck!

A grandmother (maybe great-grandmother) we know has a yellow F-650. Names and accomplishments of her grandchildren on the tailgate, and no one -- NO ONE -- would dare put a bale of hay in the bed. It's in perfect condition, and only she and her daughter are allowed to drive it. It's the only truck in these here parts bigger than mine.
