Let me first say - I did this:

    1) Bought a SPRINT smartphone cellphone (HTC Mogul) for $150 with unlimited data per month. (I needed a cellphone and this does the job at $70 per month)
    2) Bought software called SELECTRADIO for $25
    3) Bought FM radio adapter (MONSTER CABLE) for $30.
    4) Subscribe to XM Radio for $7 a month via internet.

Activated this all, and now I have XM radio, as long as I have cellphone coverage.

    Interesting idea.
    I hope you bought a car-charger too.

You know that's $924/yr for internet satellite radio, with limited programming. I'm not sure about the economics. How long is that software SELECTRADIO good for.
It is neat what cellphones can do these days!

Well, if you were going to have the cellphone regardless, then that takes $840 out of that $924/yr....

$80 per month x 12 months is $960 per year for satellite radio, internet radio, cellphone, PDA (with wifi bridge for laptop), push email, etc. SELECTRADIO is a one time purchased tool, so good forever.

Ok, I guess I need an education.

I've reread the OP 3x and don't see $80/month anywhere... is that an additional required monthly charge when you purchase SELECTRADIO on top of the monthly cell phone bill? Because the OP doesn't say that anywhere, and as the OP reads, it makes it seem like after the initial investment, the only out-of-pocket cost is $7/month for internet satellite radio. What am I missing?

    That is the OP.

Rounding off everything. If you have a cellphone with a data plan already. and the cellphone is a smartphone running windows mobile 5 or newer os. then for around $10 per month internet-satellite radio subscription charge (please go to xm or sirius radio web site) you can have satellite radio.

Thanks! That's how I understood it, too. All these other people saying it would cost $960 a year, I just didn't understand how they got that math to work.. Big difference between ~$120/yr and $960/yr.

Thanks for the info, offroad... very useful!
