Molang is back!?!? I was dismayed that he had to leave for awhile but secretly I was doing the calculations to see how long it would take me to overtake him! I'm doomed now! LOL! Oh ah. . .

    Welcome Back Molang!

    Jeannie & Wildkow,

Thanks for the warm greeting. I'm back on folding using PS3. Finally got the time to power up the PS3 to watch a movie (while the baby resting on my arm). While powering up, I just keep the PS3 running and start to contribute again. :p

I noticed today my assigned work unit had grown to 200,000 instead of the previous 100,000 that I've seen. So, it now takes a bit over 6 hours to process. Do they give you larger jobs the longer you're on, or is it normal variability? Kinda like a reliable employee - pile it on and work them to death. hehe

As far as I know, you just get assigned the next work unit in the queue, unless you've configured your system to only accept small work units. Stanford assigns the number of points for a work unit based on their benchmark tests, so the number of points is roughly proportional to the time it takes you to complete a work unit.

You will find more consistency among work units from the same project. For example, my quad core will generate about 1500 points per day if I'm on a work unit from project 2653, but it will generate about 1100 points per day if I'm on a work unit from project 2662.

Because I finally finished two 1487 work units worth 1741 points each, but they took 20 days. You'll catch up quickly, tho, because my SMP clients are all currently down.

I have and extra PC running Ubuntu and would like to use it for folding. I have not been able to launch the executable file recommended for Linux. Does anyone know whether this will run on a PC usuing Ubuntu OS?

It will work with UBUNTU. You might try looking at this WIKI entry: Running the FAH client on Linux - FaHWiki

Also, you may want to post a question on the Folding Community forum at Folding Forum • Index page in one of the three sections on running folding under Linux - the older console version, the newer beta console version, or the newer one using the -smp flag. Explain what you have tried and the symptoms you're seeing, and several people will help you diagnose and solve your problem getting it to run.

Unfortunately, I only know the WINDOWS, non-graphics versions.

Congratulation to Jeannie on passing the million points mark !!!

The PC Folding team has 3 individuals archived 1 million points mark. Now, let's focus on the next mark, 2 million points.

Hey, Wildkow - have you noticed that the dates on our million point certificates keep changing? You hit the landmark on June 30, and I got there on July 1, but now our certificates show the Fourth of July!
