They're tastier, but in most situations they do take a pretty heafty amount of energy to produce. Grass fed beef or buffalo have much lower energy/water requirements.

Hummers give me a guts ache.

Of course if you drive a man's vehicle like a Hummer, you also eat a man's meal, like meat and plenty of it. Knock its horns off, wipe it's arse and walk it across the hot plate. Recipe for rare steak.
Serve with can of full strength beer.

Grain-fed beef is fossil-fuel intensive. But, as the article states, not as bad as a Hummer. By my calculation, the US average beef consumption uses fossil fuel energy equivalent to 65 gallons of gasoline. Even for a typical family of four, that's small relative to the roughly 1000 gallons of gas a Dummer (15 mpg) would use in a year.

another thing to consider is need

i can assume that very little guys w/hummers need them

while mcdonalds feeds many poor families with their cheap burgers. and i mean poor, not the kind of poor who buys lattes and shops at wal-mart because they 'have' to.

McDonald's also employs a lot of working poor.

I like an occasional hamburger. Mostly the only meat I eat is when I visit my parents on Sunday. But I have an Iowa Meats down the hill that sells grass fed, free range meat and poultry. I think I may start shopping there for the occasional times when I want to grill myself some meat.

Actually it's the very little guys who feel they "need" a Compensator Hummer (if you know what I mean).

I had to stop really quickly for some nosh at McD's, just got a double quarter pounder, nothing else, and it cost nearly $5! Even fast food is expensive now. Fortunately I didn't need a drink or side. would have cost me nearly $7 that.
