This is completely full of hooie. The environmental damage in Sudbury occurred back in the 1960s, long before the Prius was even a glimmer on the drawing board. Sudbury is pretty well cleaned up now. Furthermore, most of the nickel from Sudbury goes into stainless steel, which is used in other cars and many other products. Blaming the Prius for Sudbury is like blaming the Prius for global warming. After all, the Prius does contribute to global warming.

Toyota has to do something to keep that under wraps. Come on, if the entire public new the truth that would destroy there sells. They would lose money. We can not have that. The truth always unfolds but your case it will probably be too late when it does. But you will look back one day and hate yourself for this day.

Just for the benefit of the rest of the world and to let all the participants on this site know, that all Americans are NOT represented by Mattpopp. NOT all Texans either. He is just an anomaly. For your future edification Matt. Proper English ( PE ) = affects NOT effects

You support the destruction of your own environment buy purchasing a battery operated car from Toyota. It does not make it ok if its been going on since the 60's. It just tells me that you are a hypocrite.

"Destroy there sells" This is the height of ignorance! PE= Destroy thier sales. Don't feel bad Matt, you are actually quite articulate and literate. But you too are a victim of your environment. If one doesn't speak properly, one can never write properly.

Lets try the freedom of speech.....again and hope that DANNY boy wont delete it. Jaymannnnnnnnn.........does canada make and produce automobiles? I was just wondering. Oh, yah, anyways so you think I want individuals to kiss my butt. Why is that? Why did you join the Armed Forces, or whatever you call it? I know why I did. Wait, probably not the reason you did, but its safe to say you learned zero from your so-called stint with the military as chief warrant officer; guess thats in the army, I wouldn't know. The best education anyone can receive is not taught by some has-been acid dropping hippie who has chosen to become a professor at parasocialist university. You can brag all you want about how much more you know than the individuals that challenge you in a debate but we (ones who arent influenced) all know that deep down you are just a sheep. You read a little bit of your marxist columns and then preach it, as if you've known it for twenty years. You may have been in the armed forces (as you called it) but it seems you have no intestinal fortitude. You dont drive a prius cause you care, you drive one because it's the "hip" thing to do in your society and makes you feel good about yourself. That's cool, I guess. If you feel like thats what it takes to safe the earth then you just stay the course. I'm all for it. Yes I know that anyone that challenges this forums beliefs is kinda like blood in the water for yall but there is always two sides of a story. Furthermore, get your replies right. MattPopp didnt say anything about farmers and subsidies. I did. You may have all the answers for the environment, prius, global warming, economics, lifesyles, oil production, healthcare and on and on and on but you have no clue when it comes to AMERICAN FARMING AND SUBSIDIES! Lastly, I dont need recognition for serving my country. I'm quite aware what I've done for my country and theres things that I've done that I wish I could take back but I cant; thats the nature of the beast. Though, dont you ever tell a veteran that he wants his or her butt kissed. You know better that that, thats what makes me not believe you were in the "Armed forces". A true veteran knows where others have been. Hopefully danny boy want delete this post so my opinion can be read. Tuefel Hundin is out.

Matt, you don't seem to be interested in getting answers to your questions. Almost every response yours is imflamitory.
Settle down, stop taking or giving the bait and lets discuss the 'news' you found.
Some polution is created when the Prius is built, just and production of any vehicle adds polution.
The pollution you referred to in Canada is not all due to the Prius. And has improved dramatically since it was at its worst, even though more and more Prius have been made.
Luckily it looks as if the next generation Prius will be using Lithium batteries which are far better for the environment. No, they are not perfect, but they are better.
From what you have shared of yourself, I see two main reasons the Prius may be for you.
    1. Simple savings, far less expensive to operate.
    2. You will be sending less of your money to countries that don't like us and even some that support terrorism.

I do know of a number of people who have picked up an economical car for city errands and such and use their truck when they need to haul something. This works well for some people. However, if you would be trading in a truck that is working well for you, I wouldn't recommend it. The savings in gas simply can't make up the loss you would take on the trade in.

To everyone else, if Matt isn't a troll, you are being unnecessarily argumentative. It may be that it simply isn't easy for someone with his history of truck ownership to adjust to the new reality. If he is a troll, his goal would be to get a reaction out of you, so you are doing exactly what he wants.

Well, I took a peek at the Cummins forum. Our Matt is quite the hero there

Funny little story from today. - Dodge Cummins Diesel Forum

So based on what I read in the Cummins forum, here are my new opinions:

    1. All Americans suck, especially the Dodge Cummins rednecks, hillbillies, and retards

    2. Canada shoud unilaterally tear up NAFTA, cut out the Canadian Taxpayer funded oil subsidies, and make the Dodge Cummins drivers pay for their ignorance

    3. Again, a special knock against Texas. Not only did Texas give us Dubya, but apparently a lot of dumbasses

Those rednecks are so dumb they purposely make their trucks gush black smoke. They think it's harmless. They also are so manly, they'll even try to mow down a bicycle riding woman. Oh yeah, real men there
