dealer told me that there's no point in owning the prius if you drive it on the highway...

also told me that when I went to look at the ford escape hybrid... I asked him if he'd ever driven a hybrid and he said "no"

    ... stoopid dealers...

I was told by the cute girl with the low cut top that showed me all about my car that the B gear was to be used WHILE breaking. And that if I didnt use the B gear I could damage the car somehow. So for the first evening, I was driving around town trying to stop/slow the car down with the B gear. I was getting frustrated that the B gear was not slowing the car down enough. I KNEW the girl must be wrong. But until I got home and read the manual, I shifted into B every time I slowed down. I think I used the B gear more that evening then I have used it total in the last four months combined. Funny now!

I was told by the Honda sales person while test driving a Civic Hybrid that Prius was "just" fast enough to be legal on freeways. HUh? This was after I had tested a Prius on a freeway. He then directed me to drive up a steepish up hill road, and informed me that Prius would most likely not be able to go up this hill. At this point, after driving the Civic Hybrid, and being fully unimpressed with it, I told him to stop bashing the Prius. I thought the Civic Hybrid had way less power, and had to work much harder to do what the Prius does without much fuss. It did have a better Nav system though. Oh well....

Mine told me that if I ran out of gas, I had to have the car towed to a dealership and have to "re-set everything" (stuff only they could do).

When I asked him if my Pkg 5 came with XM radio, he said "they all come with it, you just have to activate it." And this was they guy the dealership had sent for the special Prius training classes.

Hmmm, I didn't get the cards. I had heard about them however and looked for them but none there and I forgot about them until just now. No matter to me though, no way in hell I'm letting some pimply faced kid touch that car, anyway, card or no card.:)

If you press the Power button without your foot on the brake pedal you don't have to power down. Just depress the brake pedal and hit the Power button again. It will start.

My sales guy was okay. He admitted that he didn't know a lot about the Prius ... and I had been a PC member for a couple of months before the car came in anyway.

I really didn't have anything explained to me wrong since the salesman was fairly knowledgeable. In fact he had the valet cards out and informed me of the issue of valets not knowing how to put the car in park or drive. He didn't explain the B on the knob but I knew at least being in Florida, I'd never need to use it.

I mentioned the fact that I was on this site and understood most of the options on the vehicle.

The only thing I needed to know, was where do we sign? Seriously, anybody who relies on dealers for actual information is wasting their time. Thet's why we have Priuschat. I did my research here (PC), asked two friends how they liked their Prius. All the dealer was there for was to take my money. Haven't been back since.

My dealer told me I would use 5.5 litres per 100 kilometres, I told him it was more like 4.3L/100km.

We were both wrong at the moment, it's 4.0L/100km.

He also told me that they buy Prius' at MSRP so they only make money on options and documentation fees. But somehow, two days later, the deal settled at $935 under MSRP. Hmmm...why didn't they fire the sales manager? He's going to put them out of business!

I bought my '06 from Cramer Toyota in Venice. FL. The salesman knew nothing about the auto at all....the learning was all up to me. And don't ask me more about that Dealership...it is a nightmare of lies!!! Please don't go near them, ever !!!

Funny thing is you actually have a Gen III :D

Gen I was never sold in the US, it came out in 1997 in Japan only. BTW I'm just busting your balls, everyone call it the Gen II.

I went through http://www.edumnds.com to get bids on a 2008 Prius from five dealers in my local area. In that bid process, I stated that I wanted an XM Radio.

Cramer Toyota of Venice, FL, came in with the lowest price. After an Email exchange with Tim Donnellan (internet sales manager), I came in to the dealer to order the car. While there, Tim suggested that it would be less expensive and it would take less time to get the car if I ordered a base model and just purchased an add-in XM radio. So, I ordered the car as he suggested.

Once the car came in and I attempted to plug in the XM radio, I discovered that there was no AUX port! So, I couldn't plug in the radio I had purchased.

I called Tim and asked what I should do. He suggested that I purcahse the DICE Electronics iPod interface package because it also provided an AUX port. Once again, I did as he suggested.

When the DICE unit came it, I went to the dealer to find out what it would cost to havce the unit installed. They told me that they wouldn't install it and, furthermore, the installation of that unit would void my warranty.

When I called Tim to find out what he suggested, he didn't respond. When I came into the dealer to leave a message for him, one of the partners that owned the dealership called me. I told him my tale and asked what to do. He told me that he would get back with me after speaking with both Tim and the service manager.

Three weeks later, no call. :(

If you EVER plan to do business with this dealer, I urge you reconsider and go elsewhere.

Actually this is probably true. In fact, since catalytic converters, it is difficult to kill yourself with car fumes from ANY car, let alone the Prius.

Now I heard recently, and Want To Believe, is that on a smoggy day in LA, the air coming out of the tailpipe of a Prius is cleaner than that going in. I have no references, citations, or evidence.

My salesman told me the ejector seat was built in.

I found out that I would have to install it myself.

And design and build it myself.

When I was considering buying one I looked and test drove a touring Prius along with a fully loaded regular Package 6. The salesman not only told me that the Package 6 included everything even the touring package but that it had auto locking doors which I wanted. So much for knowing the product!:sorry:
