F.Y.I. The History Channel aired a show on execution devices today. They covered Edison and the electric chair. The chair had a nickname that they mentioned. It would have been a great follow-up question, except I didn't catch what it was. TV was playing in the background and was almost past the electric chair portion when it caught my attention, because of this thread.

Anyway, just thought I'd mention the coincidence.

It seems as if there is more than one opinion as to the correct answer.

PS: While we're at it, if memory serves Richard Schumacher was actually the first to post the Edison answer, back in post 348, but then he edited it out (probably because, like me, he couldn't think of a new question).

No! I'm pretty sure it wasn't Old Sparky that I heard. "Old Sparky as the nickname for a number the states electric chairs, including New York and Texas. But I think I would have recognized it if that's what they said.
