Wait a minute, why do you all want to buy a second Prius?
If I can't pay for the savage, I'll let one of you buy it off. You don't need to pay any premium.

Hey there, back of the line :D

In response to some of the other comments, here is my understanding. In most places you can't just buy a vehicle with a salvaged title and drive it. You need to show through receipts that repairs were made, and then have it inspected. They will look to see that the vehicle is safe to operate, contains no stolen VIN parts, and that the engine is of the original type with all its associated emissions gear intact and functional (includes hybrid system on a Prius). At that point you can get the title converted from salvage to reconstructed (exact name varies by state). Once you have a reconstructed title you should be able to register, insure and drive it as any other car. You just won't have any factory warranty.

Did I mention that I have two very cute mouths to feed and need safe, reliable, affordable secondary transporation for them  Plus if you sell it to me it will probably be elevated to the enlightened rank of plugin hybrid :D Plus Phoenix is practically part of California now anyway :p

..and you won't be able to insure it for full coverage, just liability only.

Yes, you'll have to have it inspected, but if it was totalled for a non functional or non safety reason, then all that you have to do is have it inspected as no repair for it to be made safe and functional was necessary.

A repaired Prius or any other car can be insured with full coverage. If your insurance company wont without inspecting it, then shop around. Thank you.

I want to point out this probably varies state to state, contacting your local tag office about buying a salvaged out of state / or instate vehicle would be a wise thing to do , for anyone considering it. P>S. I drive lots of hard miles on a rural route for the post office, and would love to have been able to purchase at low cost a minimally damaged vehicle like this one.

had to talk with an "expert" who does bodywork for a living... he states average cost in WA is around $1000-2000 PLUS repair costs to get salvaged vehicle back on the road again for joe citizen. can be a nightmare depending on why it was salvaged.

it takes a few months... but can be done.
