Sorry for the misadventure. My guess is that the owner of the vehicle with which your Prius became so intimately acquainted is likely to object to the coupling and add a bit more grief to your life.

In the meantime, I do hope you will be able to better locate the good will ambassador who gave you such valuable assistance. Also, I hope you will find the time to read up a bit more on the wonderful car now pining for you to reclaim her from the garage.

I happened to be leaving my first school for my second and saw you parked in a rather precarious position in the Bristol rush-hour, with your young son in the back seat. I was petrified that someone was going to rear-end you. Rush hours in these parts, especially at the junction you were at, can be really horrid!

Glad that you got your son back home. What a fast insurance replacement. Who are you insured with? (Or, knowing that you were heading to an insurance company I think you said, perhaps it's your own company?)

Hope you stick around on the forums and let us all know how you get on!

It did look to me like most of the damage was to the front bumper, so perhaps it'll just be a case of replacing that. I just managed to bend the bent plastic the other way so that you could get the wheels turning!

Welcome to PC, Adam, and sorry for your inconvenience! I'd hate to do without my Prius and so would the kids -- they love it.

Most people on PC seem to be the type that would have helped you, but Nikki's character seems to be as good as her posts. I suggest you meet the other great PC people in a more normal fashion than how you met Nikki.

Nikki, is there a way to buy you a pint of your favorite or a mug of your favorite tea?

Wow that is a great story (well sorry to hear about the accident and I am glad everyone is ok !) there should be PC member niceness awards and Nikki you should be the first receiver of such award!:first::clap2:

 

Sigh. What a time to ask stupid questions. I find 75% of call centers truly abhorrent.

I would insist that you have the car taken to a repair centre of your choice. Have them take the Prius to a specialist. There's a lot of specialist kit in the Prius and I'd not trust Ford with it. Actually I'd not trust the local Toyota with it either as they don't seem to like dealing with Prius. I use RCS 900 in Slough as they have a huge service department, second to none customer service and always have plenty of Prius on site when I arrive.

A few years ago (four, actually) I spun my 1965 Morris Minor on the Heathrow M4 spur in torrential rain. I needed to have the chassis legs repaired and the insruance company insisted I took it to their approved repair centre who had no knowledge of how to deal with a classic. To cut a long story very short they bodged the repair and the car subsequently failed an MOT the next year as the repair had let water in and had rusted the cross member and chassis leg. Now if ever I need repair work or even servicing I'll take my car to a garage I trust.

Yes, it's addictive isn't it? I love the fact that you can commute in relitave comfort. Last week I had to drive a Yaris with a manual box and it drove me mad in the rush-hour with the stop-start, clutching and declutching!

My previous car to my Prius was a little electric car which I sadly had to sell as I needed a longer range vehicle. Before that I had a 1.8 L Hot-Rod of a Minor Traveller. (Not the same minor as the one mentioned above). It would do 70-80 in third and I would sit BMW baiting on the M4... It was great fun to drive but I'd never want it back now as I love the Prius too much!

Well, I'm not a huge drinker. Coffee is my main thing, or Chai... But to be honest knowing that someone is safe and no-one was injured was my primary concern. I still can't believe that the other driver had gone on their way. I hope if I ever hit anyone with a young child in the back I'd not leave them stranded!

I agree with the not trusting a Ford dealer with a Prius, but I wouldn't trust a Ford dealer with a Ford. I hope you get the car back quick, smart and straight as new. Then you can get out of that nasty Fiesta.

My brother in law is from Bristol so I have a head full of Bristol accents while reading your posts.

Can I come by for a bite?

 

A good Air Force friend of mine was an exchange pilot in the RAF for a few years. She threw a big 4th of July party with BBQ every summer to celebrate our independance. People came from kilometers away to participate and wave American flags. She didn't do it to rub their noses in it - just an excuse to have fun, drink a pint, and see the crazy Yank.

 

Hehe - The barbecue is tomorrow so I'll post some photos if I remember!
