SF Toyota is hosting one of these this coming weekend. I was thinking about going, if only to get the "free oil change" coupon ... which is apparently worth $80 according to how much they usually charge for one.

I went to my new owner event tonight ( I just got my car on Sat so I am a very new owner)!!!! In general it was ok we went through 5 station that talked about tires, oil, breaks, diagnostic computer, and toyota parts..but just for coming there were about 75 of us there we got VIP service for life of car including: free oil filters for life of car, free tire maintenance, double tire guarantee, customer courtesy vehicle for overnight repairs, 10% off work/parts/labor,no charge lock out service, and free immobilizer programming costs for replacement key!
BUT the best part came when I WON 1 YEAR FREE SERVICE there....:humble:
So in general I thought the program was ok I was going to go just to check it out and get the VIP service (you had to attend event) but it turned GREAT when I won.

I just went to one last night, it was only the second one the dealership had held. They served barbeque (we're in NC), introduced the service staff, went over maintenance schedule and then split groups up somewhat, but put Prius, Corolla, and Rav4 together. The service tech clearly knew very little about the Prius, but then the only one they usually have on the lot is the loaner car! We had to fill out a survey before receiving our tshirt, 15% discount on accessories, and free oil change, and I recommended they break out a group for hybrid owners next time. I also happened to win the last door prize of the night - a complete detail service valued at $150, so I was pretty happy!:clap2:

It really depends on the salesperson on how your experience is. Some do their homework and others just fake it. Good and caring people are few no matter what business they are in.

Ours was yesterday. Learned nothing. THIS is THE place to learn! Thanks!! :)

We got a black Toyota t-shirt (large and I'm a small) and a stainless steel coffee mug. We had orange juice, coffee, pastries or huge bagels.

There were only 3 cars; I was the only Prius.

The speaker said before we got started that the other couple's Corolla and the Prius: we did not have to worry about a warranty. The cars are built so good it isn't needed. Then a couple came in with a Rave-4, guess the same applies to all Toyota's. Soooo, no sense in buying the extended, eh?

It wasn't worth the 52 mile round trip, but I wanted to go.

Got some good bargins at Aldi's on the way home, so all was not lost. ;)

I asked about this, having seen this thread. I was told the dealer has something monthly but it is not Prius specific. Hmmm.

I took my Dad up to look at a Prius, he had some questions. This was about 2 weeks after I signed (I'm still waiting for it). The salesperson who sold to me wasn't working so we spoke with another. Who told me that my salesperson will tell me everything I will need to know.

Wait a minute. My salesperson had worked there 3 weeks, I was his first Prius sale, he'd never even SAT in one until he took me for a test drive. And THIS is the person who is gonna tell me all I need to know????

Thanks GOODNESS I found this forum!!!

Our Prius is the second Toyota we've purchased from the same dealership.

I haven't even heard of a new owner event.

I would think the dealers would hand out cash to thank buyers for help the local economny these days.

No doubt but that Prius owners should have a separted event.

considering after spending only a month reading the forums here I knew more about the car than the salesmen i spoke with... i really wouldn't care for a New Owner event except to tell others about PC! :)

Just received my invitation to the "special celebration" for new Toyota owners.
Refreshments served and a free oil change certificate.

I would say summer casual... and wear flip flops. Everybody that went to ours was in shorts and t-shirts and were as casual as you could get. Ours was on a Saturday afternoon.
