EBH Temperature Observations

    9 am - Water Temp: 84 F / Engine Temp: 83 F (start of observation, cold engine)

    11 am - Water & Engine Temp: 136 F

    12 pm - Water & Engine Temp: 143 F

    looks about right....Now show what happens to your temps after you unplug and start the ICE...you'll see a drop of around 10-20 F immediately and then it'll quickly start climbing back up. On these warmer days I can often be above 154 F by the time I get to the end of my community's little road (~1/4 mile) and can stop and get into S4 for the rest of my drive.

    The temperature went down pretty fast after I started up, but like you said it bounced back quickly.

    A few questions:

    Where can I find out information on S1 thru S4? The definitions of what each stage is. I bought the SGII five days ago, but I don't know how I can tell what stage I am in.

    Would I damage either the Prius or the EBH if I were to plug in the EBH right after I turned the car off (water temp~185 F) to KEEP IT WARM in the winter?

    My calc's show that running the EBH (on So. Cal. Edison's mid teir) for 3 hours outweighs the cost of the gas we'd save. 80 minutes does the trick for us, whether in CA or MT.
