Mike pretty much hit the nail on the head. Most of us are older and have a hard time dealing with teens that don't understand or care about saving fuel, environmental issues, or human safety/health issues, at least that is my excuse. :) I work in the psuedo "ghetto" so my tolerance for ghetto talk and attitude is also limited. I apologize if I come across short. :)

Take it to the track... not the Prius either.

Go to Hertz and rent a Corvette...

You only need to put the fella in his place right... well you ain't gonna win an ET race with an 07 Prius and a V8 Mustang... and modding one till you can is just stupid.

Maybe your parents bought you the Prius with the idea of keeping you alive for a little while longer.
Insurance companies in europe wouldn't let anybody under age 25 near a V8 coupe.
If you want to race; go to a track and scare yourself properly in a car with a cage or a really fast Kart.

Perhaps if you employed the use of a dictionary folks would take you a tiny bit more seriously.

You know I have found that I was mistaken in my youth thinking chicks get a kick from a fast car and fast driver. I have since discovered they would rather a smooth ride that lasts all night than a quick sprint full of jerks and lurches.

If you really want to beat the Mustang, either ensure it is the 4 legged variety of Mustang or remove the throttle cable when the owner isn't looking.

Don't you hate a spoilt brat who's parents get him a $20,000+ car and he isn't happy with it just how it is? Shits me off to be honest.

    Edit: -
I just remembered how you can beat a nutstank in a race!!! Oops I mean Mustang.
    500 miles
Must not exceed the speed limit
Take food and drinks and pee in a bottle.
    Drive economically
Try to pick 55mph roads and lots of traffic lights for the fixed route
When he stops for gas you pass him and win.

considering that you could probably get about $25k if you sold it, i'd say sell it, buy a cheaper car, and spend the extra money putting as many mods on it as you can afford. you should easily be able to smoke a mustang with $25k to play with...

in the meantime, I'm going to continue suffering high insurance premiums because it is statistically proven that male drivers under 25 are more prone to auto accidents. cheers.

I don't know that conventional performance enhancements are going to make much of a difference on a Prius. Remember, you've got two motors that have a synergistic relationship (yeah, that "S" in HSD is pretty descriptive.)

Changing one without making corresponding changes to the other is likely to end poorly. However, that doesn't mean that it can't be done. There is a group that has a racing Prius. I don't know what they've done to it, how it would do against a Mustang, but with sufficient money these cars can be souped up.

I suspect that such a project is going to become a money pit, but then again, most hobbies are. Learn the technology and learn to think in it's terms; chances are that what works on your buddies' Stangs will be disastrous on your Prius.

Oh, and yeah, if you yourself aren't good with computers and programming them, I'd suggest that you make friends with someone who is. You're going to need that resource to manage whatever mods you put on the car.

Best of luck and let us know how it goes.

Specify both drivers are limited to: 10 gallons of gas. That way you don't have to worry about an auxiliary tank for extended range.

Since you bring this up, here's a handy helpful suggestion.
First, take a class in electronics, as well as electrical theory. Then take as many remedial grammar, spelling, and punctuation classes as you can. That ought to come before you tinker with something that has enough electric current to kill you. I'm one of the worst spellers in the world when I rush, but that dosen't happen every single post. Good luck with your new hotrod.

A mean looking new Mustang thought he was racing me yesterday. We were on a 6-lane strip with poorly-coordinated traffic lights every 1.5-2.0 miles.

His had curly decals, black-out glass, wide tires, a loud engine, 2 chrome exhausts, & hood scoop.

Mine (Prius) had a bicycle & kayak on the roof.

He beat me on take-off at every light.
Emphasis on "every" -- because I easily caught up to the Mustang, as it waited, idling for the next light to turn green.

    That's the story of the hot-rod race;
I was there settin' the pace.;)

Hope you feel better soon. I'm glad you walked away from this.

The Prius does a great job of protecting the driver in accidents, but usually gives its life to save yours. Did you pop the airbags?

Shame on anyone with told-you-so comments. This is for you:
    :brick:

It'd be a bit ironic to see that from the same crowd ripping on the kid's maturity.

Okay, I never want to see someone wreck their vehicle and I'm glad no one was hurt (at least you didn't mention if you or your buddy was hurt)... but I just can't keep myself from saying that I'm not surprised at all that this happened. It's almost border line comedic that after all the lecturing you received on this thread about not racing the Mustang that this ultimately ended up happening. I apologize for the response, but couldn't resist.
