I think you are close enough to the precipice to see the slippery slope. :D

If you want to prevent tragedies, make the world a better place; don't take away our few precious freedoms to do it.

    Rob:

Yep, I was in 10 years. I wouldn't recommend it to anybody. Though it should be *mandatory* for all the Talk Show ranters, the Armchair Generals, etc. That would make them STFU

Well, I think we recently had a taste of that when the hillbilly Dodge Ram Cummins trolls stirred up some s*** here. I have to admit, my opinon of Texans was flushed right down the toilet when those two Texas Dodge Ram owners brought up their more interesting viewpoints

For example, apparently in Texas, you're a Real Man if you used your lifted Dodge Ram Cummins to try to run over a woman on a bicycle. I truly regret that woman on the bicycle didn't whip out a Glock 22 and pop a few caps into Dodge Ram Cummins Real Man's rear window

I'm afraid we're going to see a lot of Prius owners targeted *because* they are Prius owners. Not just in the US either

My last business trip overseas, when I got back I drove over to the post office to pick up my held mail. To turn in, I had the right of way. A numnut in a Dodge Ram cut across the oncoming lane, cut me off, honked his horn, and flipped me off

It helps I'm built like a bald gorilla

So I pulled up next to that POS as the scrawny guy was climbing out of it. The color just drained from his face when Mean ANGRY Bald 400 lb Gorilla marched up to him and started screaming into his face. I then took a swing at him and that scrawny little f*** hopped back into his POS and sped out of there

I fully expect more Road Rage incidents involving hillbilly bottom feeders in pickups, vs Prius cars. At a recent community policing event, the subject of road rage came up. I suggested the police get a Prius, and outfit it with hidden high-res cameras and hidden LED warning flashers

Problem with the police using "undercover" cars is that all of them are white Ford Crown Vic Police Interceptors. They all have plain black steel wheels, and a black grille. Hell, most even have lights on the A pillar. It just screams "Unmarked Police Car!"

The stealth LED warning flashers made by Whelen, Kustom Signal, and others, fit so nicely against the headliner, you'd have to be right up to the car to notice them. The officer should be in plainclothes, even better a *woman* officer should be in plainclothes

Drive the Prius at the posted speed limit, wait for some hillbilly to tailgate, cut off, threaten, etc, then hit the disco lights. I bet after a couple of months of that, the Road Rage incidents drop way down

    1. Due to recent legislation, you no longer need a CHL in Texas to keep a concealed handgun in your vehicle. Threaten the life of an unassuming Texas Prius driver at your own risk - jacked up truck or not.

    2. Texas may have two angry guys that posted here and ticked you off, but Canada actually has one that cut you off in traffic... LOL! Are you sure these angry "Texas" posters were really not Canadians? :pound:

    3. Don't take a swing at everyone that flips you off. Your luck will run out one day, and you will lose your life.

I was looking for a place to post this, not exactly on topic, but one of the people killed at this church worked for one of our feeder airlines. We got this today, I'd like to past it here.

Charitable Works Fund Established in Memory of Fallen Pinnacle Employee

For employees who have inquired about funeral arrangements and where to send condolences for fallen Pinnacle Airlines employee Greg McKendry, his family will be holding a private service at a later date and have requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to: The Greg McKendry Memorial Fund for Charitable Works, Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church, 2931 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919.
Greg McKendry died from gunshot wounds while ushering at his Knoxville, Tennessee, church Sunday. Greg, 60, was a part-time customer service representative at the Knoxville Airport. Eyewitnesses and media have called him a hero for his quick actions in saving the lives of other parishioners of the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church.

We have the same handgun laws in Fl. Plus a "stand your ground law" that's close to 'frighten me and I can shoot you'. That limits road rage nicely.

That probably didn't apply to the woman on the bicycle. Again, too bad she didn't pop a few caps into that pickup rear window

Difference is, I worked over that scrawny little f***.

Road Rage is increasing here in Canada, but the probability of encountering a firearm is still rare. One thing I've noticed about the pickup road ragers here is that all of them are scrawny little things who feel all big and manly in their POS Dodge Ram.

So I'm not going to run and hide from what is - in essence - a bully. It helps I'm built like a gorilla. It also helps I've had military and some LE training

So I suppose if I'm unfortunate enough to be driving somewhere in Texas and a guy in a lifted Dodge Ram cuts me off, and I approach that scrawny f*** only to have my head blown off, more than likely the case will be solved. IAFIS is a very good database, and the FBI also has a growing database on ballistics

Last time I checked, you're not allowed to use a vehicle as a weapon, and after using your vehicle to cut somebody off, you're not allowed to use a firearm to kill a guy bigger than you who wants to have a "chat" about your driving "skills."

Surely common sense will stop them. *rolls eyes* Personally I'd worry more about a last minute knife coming out after your fist does. Plus, you start beating on someone first, you will be the one going to prison for assault.

Sounds like you're better equipped than most to defend yourself. Just don't count on someone who is in the throes of road rage to think logically. Your self-described 400 lb. gorilla frame and flying fists of fury would be quite likely to provoke a lethal survival response. At least in the US, laws don't allow you to beat the shit out of people who cut you off in traffic.

So, just out of curiosity, you beat this guy up then drove off, or did you wait for the police and explain why there was a beat up guy on the ground?

talk radio does not kill people... stupid people kill people.

Actually I do not. I listen to talk radio all the time when I ain't rocking out... it hasn't made me want to go out and kill anyone... and the USofA used to pay me to do just that.

I believe there are people that are often misguided in where they place responsibility for how their life has turned out. For so many weak-minded/weak-willed/weak-ambitioned/weak-in-their-own-self-assessment folks, be they male or female, be they white bread or not, be they rich or poor, be they christian or jew or moslem or hindi or buddist or wiccan, or followers of the path or members of the Church of the Living Bob or whatever... there will always be a chance that someone will bring harm to a neighbor for what they have not felt was their justice.

You should not lay blame on the likes of Al Franken or any other media personality for speaking his or her mind, when the foolish and murderous actions of a few malcontents make headlines and force good people to make funeral arrangements.

Could be. BTW I was doing a bit of

    :boink:

about Texas. I used to do a lot of work with Honeywell process control computers. Honeywell Industrial is in Houston, they also have a center in Phoenix. Since I'm from Up North, the guys in Houston could never get over my "funny accent."

It's a big state. Even if the posters were getting your goat, people like that do live here. But they live everywhere, too.

I see you own an FJ. That must be where your inner rage comes from... all those broken windshields you keep having to replace ;)

Seriously in my State I could shoot you for that. It's the "Stand Your Ground Law".

Armed Florida natives have no 'duty to retreat' in the face of an aggessor. Keep that in mind when visiting.
Here's a quote from The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence.

"Do not argue unnecessarily with local people," it says. "If someone appears to be angry with you, maintain to the best of your ability a positive attitude, and do not shout or make threatening gestures

Personally I feel threatened by environmentalists who want to "demand" that I live in a high density population center.

So, most of the citizens are armed, and it's perfectly legal to kill someone over a trivial argument if you feel threatened. Charming. That should do wonders for tourism. And of course there's little crime, right?

Such a rediculous statement. I'm coming to expect it from you though considering your other recent posts.
