Well, I have a VIN on (soon to be) my Silver Touring pkg 6. Not only that, but it survived the ocean rigors and is now a US citizen. My dealer says it should be in Albuquerque by the middle of Aug--perhaps sooner. If it all comes to pass, delivery will be within the original dealer-estimated wait time!

Been waiting about three weeks - have (refundable) deposits with two dealers. I don't expect to get a call any time soon, but they called us down last weekend to look at a couple of them that people had ordered but didn't buy for one reason or the other. Both were sold by the time we got there...

Anyhow, I was wondering... does anyone know how often and when dealers usually get their Prius allotments in? Is it like every week, couple of weeks or every month?

My particular dealership would get them twice a month, but they would have to be divided among the other dealerships in the area, so if 10 cars arrived, perhaps only 1 or 2 would only be allocated to the dealer I worked with. Not sure how it works in other places.

I don't know about other regions but for the five state southeastern region allocations appear on the first and third Thursday each month. On July 17 about 800 Prii appeared. I will be checking on August 7 since I've been waiting for mine since May 24 and should be about due. The dealers put in preferences on what they want but do not always get what they (and we want).

Got a call from my dealer around 2:00 PM today that they had a Prius Package #2 grey available. I have been on the waiting list since June 30th for a Black #2. Anway I went down there and we closed the deal. MSRP and I got 5.5% interest rate though Toyota. It went very smooth and the guys were real easy to deal with. He said they got 5 in today and I jumped like 12 people becuase of color. Which makes me wonder, do they jump people up becuase of credit? I don't mean to brag or anything but I have really good credit and I wonder if they factor that in. One less thing for them to have to worry about? Just wondering why I got so lucky?

Anway I love the car. I actually bought the car without ever even sitting in a Prius in my LIFE!!! But I couldnt' get over how much room I had. So far 51 MPG after 36 miles, got a couple of trips coming up so I'm excited to see how i do.

Molly n'me are #1 and #2  on our local Toyota dealer's waiting list for 2009 Prius-es-usses. The salesman tells us they have no idea when the 2009's might show up.

Said it could be August. Said it could be December. They don't know nothing.

I believe that joint commiseration in the form of bitterly cold beer is highly recommended whilst we all juggle the unknown ? :juggle:

Been on the list since May, and my package #2 in grey is finally here and I get to "bring her home" on Saturday! In my area anyhow, it looks like Pkg #6's aren't moving as fast as #2's. Salinas Toyota had a Pkg #6 for nearly 2 weeks!!!

Good luck to all you still waiting... be patient! Will post photos of my new baby soon!

It's been the 9 weeks since I order my Spectra Blue non-touring package 3. The dealer originally gave me an estimated 9 week wait time and yesterday told me they just have no idea when I will get my car ("Could be 2 weeks, could be 2 months") because of production demands and bog downs. Understandable but I hear of people getting their cars every week!

    The wait is definitely tough

It simply means your dealer isn't being honest. They know what their semi-monthly(twice a month) allocation is and an honest dealer will give you a fairly reasonable prediction. Usually, they'll underpromise on the date some so that it looks like you got it sooner than expected.

But if they're saying they don't know when, ask them these two questions:

    1) What is their semi-monthly allocation? This won't have suddenly changed on them.
    2) What spot are you on the list?

Hello! I'm new to all this so bare with me. I've been reading most of the posts and its nice to hear I'm not the only one that is super excited to get my new prius. My husband and I ordered our July 14th for a 2009 Grey package #2 we've been told it's a wait of about 6-9 months. They also said we would be very lucky if we even get it in that time frame. I'm hoping that by some miracle it comes sooner! Has anyone else been told this long or am I unlucky?

Whooo hoooo! :D When I got home from work yesterday afternoon there was a message on my machine that my Prius was in!!! Picked up a Seaside Pearl package 2 last evening. (Ordered May 17 — 11 weeks They’d said 7 months. I'd wanted a pine one but who knows how long a wait that would be and the blue is very pretty.)
Getting used to an automatic transmission is weird enough but the keyless thing is just too strange (but I love it!) Just hope I don’t stomp on the brake with my left foot thinking it’s a clutch. I’ve already tried to shift with the water bottle in the center holder.
They told me that they received 18 Prii yesterday. (Many of them blue). Lots of happy people in Middletown CT.

( "oh, no!" they all gasped upon seeing yet ANOTHER 'Son of Gloin' 'catch-up post' of unwieldy length .... )
even though we don't yet have ours, we're "planning" to trade it in within 2-to-4 years / PROBABLY for a plug-in Prius. rather than having to wait - yet again!!! - for a replacement, however, we'll just advise the dealership to give us a call when one of the new ones "becomes available" ....
so ... did you actually get it??? i sure hope so, but i've just skimmed through to the end of this lengthy thread and didn't notice an update. by the way ... we've also been on "The List" since the 28th of May ....
SINCE you already sold your other car a few weeks ago, i'm sure you're REALLY thinking of doing so.

i'm not sure how things are in Canada when it comes to importing oil, but i BELIEVE your nation produces more-than-enough / more than its citizens and residents consume. here in America, of course, we need to import a LOT of the stuff; something like 65% of the oil we burn on the highways-n-byways is imported! THAT'S the main reason i'm holding out for the Prius ... to do all i can do as an individual to reduce our dependence on foreign oil.

in other words, your "motivation" seems to be somewhat different than my own. still ... the eventual resale value of a Prius as compared to a Corolla - especially if traded in within, say, four years and with comparatively low mileage - could more-than-cover the original cost difference ....

also ... consider your personal driving habits. if most of your driving is so-called "city driving", then the Prius would be MUCH more fuel efficient than the Corolla in the long run. if most of your driving is "highway", then that gap closes somewhat.

best of luck as you strive to reach a decision that works best for you!
after such a lengthy wait - three months?!?!? - here's hoping all went well with your scheduled pick-up appointment!!!
and i'm sure we're all happy FOR you; ya' scampy camper you!!! you actually had a comparatively "short" wait ... about six weeks. we just passed the nine-week mark a few days ago ...
i want to thank you for your kind comment, acidburn517 ... "making the waiting just a bit more bearable" for all of us is precisely what i'm trying to do. hopefully, i succeed more often than i fail ....

Found way to ease anxiety while waiting for our Prius. It's a big thread, so if it's redundant, please forgive me. I've started a file for our Prius. No I'm not using a New Baby book. I'm printing out. cataloging and filing, tips for newbies, do's and don'ts, Prioritizing Mods (dealer installed, A.S.A.P self installed, when I can afford it, and like to have), I already have our SGII, and using it on our Avalon. It helps. I don;t know why, but it helps. Maybe because it's tangible. May not work for anyone else. but it helps relieve the "When the !@#$%^&*'s are we going to get our Prius" syndrome.

    ( "well ... i'm back ...." )
my-oh-my ... you certainly didn't hold anything back on YOUR selection; did you?!? here's hoping that the "no later than Saturday" they quoted you holds true!
luck!!!!! oh, and no; that doesn't sound fishy to me at all, as a few others have already suggested. a bit later on, i hope to update my own situation, and you'll see that i've been told much the same thing ....
sorry to hear your wait has been so long ... but at least you get to drive one on your vacation! as for us ... all we've had is a 15-minute test-ride!
indicating that deposits are non-refundable MAY be a gimick some dealerships employ to help keep their waiting lists comparatively short. i doubt that that's illegal ... but NOT refunding / returning a deposit check might be. here in Indiana - at least as i understand it - the deposit MUST be returned if no purchase is actually made.
that's easy for you to say, TravelBliss ... you've already GOT yours!!!!!

My dealer called me back for another update - been 2 months now (Again - very nice of her to keep my updated as closely as she is considering the waiting list size at this dealer).

Im down in the 50's on the list now. She said she may begin to call me more often if something comes up. Apperently people have been backing out when called.. Better for me i guess - I move up faster :).

2 Months down - Hopefully not too many more to go!

( "well ... what'cha know; NEARLY all caught up!" he said with a snicker and a pashaw .... )
whoo-hooo!!! two more of us no longer on "The List" ... enjoy your new wheels; both of you ... sdmiller and MJ77 !!!
just doin' my best ... as are SO many of us!!! thanks for the kind remarks kittykat ... and, to answer your question: PERHAPS less than a week now! but trust me ... i AIN'T holdin' my breath!
contrary to what i said above, make that THREE! all right, ValerieG !!! yes, Seaside Pearl IS quite nice imho: it was actually our first choice ... but we think we're going to end up with Classic Silver which was our second choice.

oh ... and DO be careful with that "clutch"; nasty, tricksey brakeses ....

now for my personal update: about two weeks ago, we were called by Andy Mohr Toyota and told they "should" be getting a Pkg #3 in Classic Silver within two to four weeks. we said we were MOST interested and were told we'd hear from them again soon. that "soon" ended up not being until yesterday! anywhooo ... now they're saying the car should be arriving "in between the 1st and 6th of August." with a bit of luck, we'll finally have ours about the middle of next week ... which would make a total of ten weeks on "The List" ....

it has NOT been an easy wait for us - especially me ... snicker .... - as 1) we've been TRYING to wait for a Pkg #3 which, apparently, is NOT common in this area, and 2) in the last three weeks, we've been offered a total of FOUR other cars! one offer was for a Pkg #1, and three were for Pkg #2s ... the colors were black, driftwood pearl, spectra blue and magnetic gray if I recall ....

at any rate ... PERHAPS our wait is nearly over ....

Picked my Silver package #2 up tonight. I put an order in last saturday! I was told it would be roughly 3 month wait..but since I was flexible on colors and package that it would be sooner. I had no idea it would only take about 6 days! I got the call on the 31st and was told that all the salespeople were calling people on the lists on a first one in the door gets it. I was first! IRA Toyota in Danvers and a great experience with Mark Aubuchon in sales.

I think you will get yours before I get mine! They keep telling me the 11th but like you I'm not holding my breath. After 3 months I just don't want to get my hopes up only to be disappointed. The last 3 weeks are definitely much harder than the first 9.:D
