    Hello,

I am looking to buy either a pre-owned 2007 or a new 2008 Prius. A new 2008 Prius MSRP from the Toyota website comes out to be under $25k, while 2007 Prius price at KBB or Toyota dealers/CarMax is going for anywhere between $27k-30k!! Could you please explain this to me, as I am obviously missing something.

    Thanks!
    Apu

It's supply and demand. You can't find any '08's and there's a waiting list as high as 200 in some dealerships. This is driving the price of used vehicles up because you won't have to wait 6-8 weeks to take delivery. A member posted a thread at one point of a dealership (in California I believe) that sent a memo out to all their prior Prius customers from '04 thru '07 model year offering to buy back their vehicles for exactly what they paid for them assuming they didn't exceed 12k for each of those years and the vehicle was still in excellent condition.

I bought my 2008 Prius pk#6 about 2 months ago and paid a total of $33,500 out the door, here in Sacramento, and part of the reason for the high cost was because I wanted it sooner and that was after a 1 month wait with the $500 down.

Do shop around and there are definitely much better deals to find if you really search for them.

I like the car but am not too happy with the dealers.
