    Hello,

I have a base 2008 Prius. I want to know what are my options for getting my iPhone 3G to play on it. I've read about the Sli2. Does this work for the base model's radio? If so is this the best option? Thanks in advance.

The DICE is just as good an option for you and costs much less:

PriusChat Shop : DICE iPod Car Integration Unit [i-Toyota-R] - $143.95

The only thing it won't do with the iPhone 3G is charge the iPhone while it's hooked up to the DICE due to the new cable requirements for the 3G. To my knowledge, VAIS doesn't have a specific 3G-compatible cable yet, either.

Not true - see the iphone 3g/sl2i thread for more details :) I can charge my 3G with the upgrade cable now.

Do you know if DICE is planning to have charging iPhone 3G support anytime soon?

Thanks for pointing that out! Like I said, "to my knowledge". :)

Last I heard, their new cable is in a production backlog and should be ready in another 6 weeks or so. If you were to buy a DICE today and then get a replacement cable for it later, it would be between $20-$30 for the new cable.

My Prius radio does *NOT* have a CD changer, factory satellite, or navigation options. All I have is a simple AM/FM radio with a single disc CD player. The radio does have a 'MSG' button on the Prius touch screen, and the CD player is capable of displaying text on the Prius touch screen. Given this, is the radio in my Prius compatible with the Dice Electronics Silverline Series of iPod integration kits? If so, will I be able to control the transport controls (i.e. play, stop, pause, fast forward, rewind, etc...) from the Prius touch screen? Will the radio controls on the Prius steering column have any effect on the operation of the iPod?

Yes to all. I have the same radio you do. Install the unit, put it in SAT mode, and you'll have full control.

It works with my 04 base model and iPhone 3g. It does not charge the phone, though.

I also use the aux port for my iPhone 3G. I went ahead and purchased a car charger for the iphone so now while i'm playing my music, it charges the phone at the same time! ;)

I just installed the new Dice for iPhone 3G in my '04 Prius. This thing is really nice! I don't like interface with the MFD so I switched it to iPod mode so that all the control is through the iPhone. At least they provide dip switches to customize the installation. Now I have power and music through one cable! The connector is a bit chunky so I can't use my iPhone case. For some reason after the installation, the defaults for reverse beep and seatbelt beeping came back. I had to go back and shut off the reverse beep and the seat belt beep after the installation. This will only make sense to those of you that have done these mods to your Prius. I will note that it did not effect the door unlock mod.
