Started first wax on my 09 using Zymol cleaner wax found at all our local parts stores. I've used it before on my white pickup truck.

I sampled the Zymol cleaner wax on a small area. What a mess! Very hard to polish off, had to spritz some water to help get it off. And it leaves a messy white dust that hang's around and falls all over.

    this is the stuff-
Amazon.com: Zymol Z-503 Auto Polish. 16 oz. liquid: Automotive

So, to me Zymol cleaner wax, $13.99 makes a big mess and is hard to use. It only contains natural ingredients, but the formula must be old school. Smells good, that's about it.

Ran over to Autozone and picked up Meguiars NXT 2.0 wax. This stuff is really good for the price, $15.99 bottle. Leaves no mess or dust and is easy to polish off. Get most off with one side of rag, flip the rag and rest comes off easily.

Really? I really like Zymol when I had my Camaro. Let me see if I can find a pic...

That took HOURS of hand waxing - no buffer at all.

Have you tried any of the other Meguiar's NXT products?

I use the shampoo, detailer, wax and love the glass cleaner. I went to four auto stores and couldn't get NXT glass cleaner so ordered four bottles online.

I'm not familiar with Zymol and I wasn't sure if you meant cleaner and wax or "cleaner wax" as a single producy. I haven't use either lately and I know I'm old school, but I do not like a cleaner wax in a single product, I don't care how new the technology is, I can't see how a clearner/wax can do anything but have whatever you are trying to "clean" off of the surface, embedded in the "wax" that you are buffing back onto the surface. I like to wash, flush off the dirt, road film and grit. Use are polish if necessary and rerinse if a polish is used. And, then wax we I can buff to my satisfaction w/o any road filt, dirt or grit in my buffing cloth scratching up the surface. But that's back when I had the free time to take a couple of days every 6 months to do a complete job. Anyway, I've used one step products, two step actually, I still wash it first. It;s a trade off and I still don;t like to do it. It does scratch up the finish more with the cleaner in the wax. Just for those that have the time and what to keep their finish as nice as possilble.

I used NXT several times before switching to Zymol. Since I moved to Cali, I haven't washed my car at all though.... I've had it washed and had it waxed.

Our popular auto parts stores - AutoZone, Kragen and Pepboys all carry a $13.99 bottle of Zymol 'cleaner wax'. The liquid is light green / blueish.

On my new car (a small test area), this product was very hard to polish off. The bottle even says to 'follow up with a light sprinkle of water to bring out the shine'.

I think what they are really saying is - you will need some water to be able to get all the cleaner/wax off. I needed to spritz some water to get all the wax off.

Then, when polishing off the wax, fine white dust is left behind that clings to your cars paint. Wave the polish cloth here and there and still, no way to get rid of all the dust. It gets into the door jambs, etc...

Bottom line - this bottle of Zymol cleaner wax was junk for me. I gave it away to my brother in law for his old cars.

    this is the stuff -

Cycledrum, I'm not trying to change your mind. What works for you is best for you. I just thought I'd point out something for others. You keep saying you can't get the wax off. You don't want to get the wax off. The idea is, that you want to put a coat of protective wax on the finish. I'm sure you followed instructions, but for others reading, the water, and it should be cold water, is to help set the wax. You also need to be in the shade, no direct sunlight or you won't be able to get the wax to set. And lastly make sure you are using a good polishing/waxing cloth that is designed to pick up the fine wax powder which is a natural part of any good waxing process. The fine powder or haze will continue to form and re-form after polishing, if the wax has not had time to set or the surface is too hot for the wax to set properly. There are trade offs. The better the protection of the wax coating the longer and more effort is required in the process. The more simple, easier and one step the process the less protection and depth in shine will result. There are many good products at either extreme and I'm sure you've seen cars with finishes that have been neglected or over polished, two extremes. Keeping a good coat of wax on your car can be expensing or time consuming but rewarding. There are good one-step products, but be careful. A polish by definition will remove some of the finish a the surface level. This is why I prefer to polish only were needed. And wash, before polishing of course, and then waxing to my satisfaction, without worrying as much about over polishing through the extremely thin finishes on todays vehicles. More than you probably wanted to know, but in my opinion a "High Quality One Step Cleaning/Wax Job" is an oxymoron. In today's world of fast food and instant gratification and clear coat finishes, a good wax job is, unfortunately, too much trouble for most car owners. The problem is, with today's clear coats you don't notice the weathering until it wears it's way thought the clear coat. By the time you notice, it's already worn into the extremely thin finishes on todays vehicles. A good coat of renewable wax helps prevent this.
