I got my homelink to program...I think. It seems to take about 5 seconds to activate the garage door opener, whereas the factory opener is almost instant. Is this normal? I've tried reprogramming several times with no change.

    Thanks, Larry

I had the same problem. I changed the batteries in my old opener then re-trained the Homelink, and all works fine. I notice I do need to hold the homelink button down for a bit longer than I did for my old opener.

Anyone using the HomeLink for X-10 control? Success? Problems?

I use it in CO for just the garage door but in MA I set up my daughter's Homelink to turn on/off exterior and interior X-10 lights. I may have had to teach it several times but evenually it worked and it still does.

I find that the signal strength of the homelink unit much better than any of my remotes, even with a full battery on them. So, even though I have to press the button longer for it to send a signal, I can do it farther away from my house than usual which means the door is fully open by the time I get to my drive way and I don't have to stop and wait for the door to open.

Yeah, I'd like to know too. I have one set for my garage door and one set for my parent's garage door and was wondering what to do with the 3rd. Someone suggested getting an X-10 to operate the porch light, which would be nice (although I don't see one for a wall switch).

The signal strength of my homelink appears low. When I am inside the garage (under the garage's sensor) it works without a problem. But when I come home, it seems the homelink signal is not powerful enough to send the signal through the garage door. I then have to fish around for the original remote opener which works fine.
I have already tried to reprogram the homelink after putting fresh batteries in the original remote, but no improvement.
Anybody have any suggestions, remedies or run into a similar problem?

There's no change to make so we can just press and release the button rather than having to hold it for about 2 seconds?

Maybe the antenna was loose or missing on the receiver end?
