    A whole set of Production Chevy Volt pictures have been leaked each with one member of the GM executive team standing before it. See the car in its native silver in all its glory! These are official studio photos although it doesnt seem like GM meant for them to break yet.

    Looks can be deceiving. For example, all the execs in the pictures look happy; they don't look like their jobs and the company is betting the bulk of their marbles on this car.

    As for the grill, it's keeping with the GM-style grill on other cars except that the other cars have the grill recessed. I was wondering if they would abandon that altogether or bring it flush. Of course, having it recessed creates concave air pockets and increase drag. But when you're averaging 20mpg and just don't care, you worry less about drag and more about how cool your grill looks.

    The comments posted at that website are pretty negative for the most part. Clearly some folks have been waiting for a long time for this and are obviously disappointed.

    Well they had the whiz bang concept car and everyone had expectations of seeing that car in production. What a letdown when it looks just like every other POS GM makes. ;)

    I like it! I think it's a well proportioned, stream lined sedan. A step forwards for Chevy design. Too bad it's not a hatch back!

    Who do these executives think they are? rock stars? they're so happy they are about 10 years too late with this finally announced car... and it costs almost double what a Prius costs. Who knows if what it claims to do is even true.

    Looks like a Chevvy fleet car. Who wants to buy a Chevvy for 40 grand? They have to price it right, and it has to be reliable. Forget about styling.

    Yeah. Chevy really has very little margin for failure here. If the car is all that they've said and reliable, they could be a major player in the next gen hybrid market. If not, Toyota or Honda will clean their clocks.

    Maybe they should outsource their artistic design aspect of the cars to independent art studios. Or have a contest throughout the world and award the winning firm by purchasing the designs.

    Why can't it at least look HALF as good as this: ???????????

    Lutz kinda looks like Leslie Nielsen standing behind the car. From the description does this mean that this design has been approved and that they started tooling up to produce it?

    This is going to sound absolutely crazy after the comment that I posted above ...

    Look at the all of the pics again and imagine a Honda or Acura emblem instead of a Chevy emblem. It doesn't look so bad. I can't explain it! Upon first impression, it looked like a Chrysler Sebring to me ("nothing special"). Upon taking a closer look and thinking "okay, what if Honda released this design?" I realized, that the actual design might actually look good. We will only know when we get a chance to see the car in person at the next auto show.

    To me it looks like a small Malibu. Not bad looking, but I would not pay $40K for it.

    I don't care much what it looks like. And the looks certainly wouldn't guide my decision for whether to pay $40k for the vehicle...nor would the emblem on the grill.

    IF the Volt was going to be a 5 seater and IF it meets the other goals (40+ real world all EV range, etc.) I'd gladly pay $40k whether it was a Kia, a Chevy, a BMW or whatever.

    That said, it really looks very little like the concept to my eye...yea, side by side you can see the similarities, but as others have pointed out there's nothing really unique looking about it... Has GM totally forgotten all the lessons Toyota gave them w/ the Prius? People who spend $40k on a state of the art vehicle WANT it to stand out in some way....maybe not a shove it down your throat way, but enough that it's instantly recognizable as different, unique and a hybrid.

    I don't drive my car to make a statement, but I do like people noticing and giving me the chance to talk about my choice and to spread the gospel.
