Does anyone know what a set of batteries cost? We were having a discussion and someone said it was over $6000.

About $3000 installed through the dealer,
or around $700 lightly used, plus install costs of $250 - $750.

I like to round the cost up to: less than a transmission for the poor sod arguing with me. ;-)

The illustration shows all the cells and the metal case / shell as well.

I would think so. Having to replace the Battery ECU and relays etc. would add quite a bit to the cost for no real reason.

Ebay has buy-it-now for $550 from a vendor in CA with four in stock. Maybe PHEV is coming to my driveway sooner than I thought :)

How did that discussion go? Did you prove him wrong and win? :)
