I had new speakers and Hushmat sound deadening installed today. The speakers were Memphis 6.5" with swivel tweeters in the front and regular in the back. Since the speakers were being installed, I decided to also have Hushmat sound deadening installed. Both mods were well worth the money. The car is so much quieter now with the Hushmat that it's hard to believe it's the same car. The speakers are amazing too. My "stock stereo" now sounds great! A highly recommended mod.

Is there any concern that you should have posted this in Audio and Electronics?

Ha, I mean that your factory amp is under powering the new speakers?

Breakers Mobile Electronics in Oxnard, CA. They're the best.

They cut me a deal with the new speakers so it's difficult to separate out the hushmat from the speakers and labor.

I called them at around noon on Saturday so they didn't have the time to do everything I wanted. They put the hushmat in all four doors. I'm going back next week so they can also put it in the trunk spare tire compartment and also under the carpeting. It's already made a huge difference in eliminating the road noise. I can'twait to hear the dufference after the total installation is done. My "once noisy" Prius is now dramatically different. Highly recommended to everyone.

Sooooo, really how much has all this cost you so far and how much more are you about to spend?

I'd very much like a quieter car

YEAH YEAH, start coughing up some $$numbers!!!

This really sounds like a mod I would very much look into. You have my interest piqued!!!

The speaker idea is cool, so yeah please let us know what we might have to put out to achieve the same peace and quiet!!!

    Thanks and keep posting!!

You can expect to pay around $600.00 for new speakers, sound deadening material and installation labor. If you're so inclined to install it yourself, it will obviously be much cheaper. I just don't have the time.

I had a late night drive from work tonight. I have to say once again, this addition to my car has made a huge difference in the sound of the "stock" radio and the new quiet solitude of my car.
