My wish list for the 2010 Prius:

    10). Moratorium on Goodyear tires.
    9).
Moratorium on 17" bicycle wheels (e.g., same lightweight, inexpensive 15" wheels adequately suffice).
8). Map lights which don't shine straight in my eyes.
    7). Electric sunroof option.
6). Integrated waiver on soft paternalism (e.g., "I agree" screen bypass; nothing in the constitution or bill of rights otherwise precludes my right to assume the responsibility of geocoding a destination, while in motion).
5). Electric only mode under 35 MPH for North America.
    4). Rear seat reading lamps.
    3).
Storage pockets and 350Z style cup holders (e.g., in the lower door panel) on all four door panels.
2). Laptop storage pockets in seat-backs, with a recharging outlet below.
    1). Height adjustable front seats.

None of these are deal breakers. About as perfect a horseless carriage as it could possibly be, I'm hoping Toyota change this car as little as possible... Just evolve it, adding subtle thoughtful features, here and there. Last thing I want to see, are
"I aspire to be stupid" 22 inch chrome wheels with drug-dealer style low-profile tires grafted to upscale Prius versions specifically geared to lure trailer-trash cliental from their Chrysler/Dodge enclaves.

I am still the only one in my neighborhood with a hybrid car.

    :)

    Cheers,
    ~ Samuel, '04 Prius

"Prius-S" which would have fancy ground effects, custom wheels, specially-stitched custom leather seats, and other fancy interior features normally found in Lexus interiors ... except this would still be a Toyota; Lexus will have their own car. :D

Asjoseph has a good wish list. But the more options available will increase the cost of the car to the point that it will fall into the Lexus or Cadillac range, thus making it less available to as many potential buyers. The more electric-operated features means more drain on the battery system and theoretically a shorter battery life. Nothing wrong with that, but the adage remains -- be careful what you wish for.

Nothing in the Constitution or Bill of Rights precludes:

1 a person's right to choose different wheels for his (or her) car.

2 Aptera offering their car in California only.

    3 freedom of choice.

    Isn't the U.S. great?

I'd be happy with more comfortable / adjustable seats (maybe just in the higher trim package) and a plug-in option with a larger battery that would allow 10 miles at 45 mph in EV mode.

Only one request: Fix the Top Ten Current Owner Complaints --
    in no particular order:

    1. the uncertainty of the "guess gauge"
    2. the fractious, frustrating fuel tank bladder
    3. the too easily discharged 12V battery
    4. the huge potential cost of a reversed polarity jump start
    5. the strangeness of the traction control system
    6. the difficulty and expense of replacing an HID headlight bulb
    7. the lack of an optional OEM package to display ICE/HV battery gauges
    on the MFD
    8. the lack of a meaningful audible alarm on the last guess gauge pip
    9. the often expressed lack of trust in dealer/tech competence
    10. the less than stellar performance/longevity of the OEM tires

Good picks. How about adding a height adjustable front seat, heated outside mirrors, and a little better handling (4-wheel independent suspension) to the list. Cheap bluetooth and Nav would also be welcome. Paying $2000+ for a few hundred worth of electronics is annoying.

    Hi All,

I would really like the capability to glide/stealth at 50 mph. Lots of 45 mph two-land roads around here. And while I am not slowing anybody down due to the lights, they still have problem with me doing 40 mph on these roads.

Additionally, I would really like an instrument screen similar to the MYCANSCAN integrated into the left front dashboard. It could slide vertically down into a slot when not desired. The MFD on the Prius is delusional some times, and insufficient. Temperatures, engine RPM and a more resolution for the battery SOC are critical to getting good fuel economy.

    Hi Joe...,

My Prius already came with the heated outside mirrors. This was only taken off the standard feature list in 2008, I believe.

Independant rear suspension would require strut towers in the rear cargo area.

    1. A plug!
    2. Sunroof or Roof Rack option
    3. Height adjustable seats and a telescoping wheel
    4. A leatherette (synthetic leather) option (Because you're not truly eco-friendly until you give up animal products, including eating them and sitting on them.)
    5. An OEM all-weather cargo mat, same design as the all-weather front/rear mats
    6. A small but recognized/tested towing capacity, factory mounted hitch
    7. More good color choices
    8. Don't mess with a good thing. It's an awesome car that needs minor tweaking.
    9. Keep it simple: no big flashy wheels, wood grain, or chrome door handles.
    10. Expect demand, create supply before the waiting list happens again.

    1. Shifter "D" and "D1" where "D1" eliminates the build-in drag of "D"
    2. Cruise control with 'strict speed' or 'load' based control laws
    3. Back-up, horn 'bleep' "P->R" or no backup 'bleep' "N->R"
    4. Automatic grill inlet block, works 24x7 based on block temperature
    5. Edge-to-edge, rear view mirror, eliminate exterior mirrors(?)
    6. Extra inch of driver seat leg room
    7. Extensible, front window, sun screen (optional electric)
    8. Fully adjustable, 4-wheel, rear toe, camber and front camber
    9. Optional rain-guard, window liners
    10. Optional MG2 inverter switch to generate 110 VAC sine wave power

My full list is a little longer but these would resolve my long standing issues. Other things I'd like to see:

    • Optional electric adjustable seats
    • North American battery terminals
    • Polarity safe, battery jump
    • plug-in traction battery, charger and pre-heater
    • plug-in tire pre-heaters
    • plug-in cabin preheating and cooling
    • adjustable strut 'stiffness' for harder tires
    • adjustable suspension height, automatic lower above 45 mph
    • automatic air dam and side skirts at 45 mph
    • auto-follow of other Prius and then all Toyotas
    • exhaust turbo-generator or power take-off
    • key fob control to roll-up windows
    • OBD scanner built into MFD
    • memory stick, USB port to record vehicle performance

none of us are agree on a 'top 10 wish list'.

wouldn't it be nice if Toyote would poll every member of this forum and use that input into their design process.

What is the TC doing that is awkward?

    ..
And the display needs a "night mode" where the only color it uses is red or orange or green, instead of WHITE! Most GPS makers now include a "night mode" on new GPS displays.

Great list and I especially like the 110vac outlet to allow plugging in of a small electric grill when tailgating or camping for some outdoor grilling! But since I live in a "trailer" I guess I'm considered trash by the lovely statement of the original poster! Maybe I should trade in my Prius for a nice 85 Buick Regal with thos big wheels & spinners? There are over 600 "Trailers" in this park all inhabited by 55+ adults who would not find your description complimentary.

I'd like to add another one:

When the key leaves the vehicle while it's on, make a more attention-getting alarm, then limit the speed of the car-without-key to something low, like 20 MPH (unless it's already in motion).

But my biggest request (already mentioned?) is redesigned hatchback area for improved rear visibility. (I don't have a backup camera)
