Keyfob: How to enable silent entry?

I'd like to set my Prius to 'silent entry'. I like they way the car is quiet except when I lock/unlock it. Please point me to the proper instructions!!

*(however, if this procedure is different for different model years, please post here, also)

First of all, welcome Mr. Nibbles! :welcome:

Secondly, for four years I've been annoyed by the beeping.

And there's a reason I've been annoyed for four years. YOU CAN'T TURN THE :censored: THING OFF!!

    Did I say "welcome"?

That can't be right. I've seen Prius users do this. Only the headlights should flash to indicate that the doors have been locked/unlocked. I should have asked them!!

I've heard of other brand car owners resorting to disconnecting the piezo beeping unit. It's easy to find if you beep the keyfob with the hood open. Just disconnect the cable or disable it, permanently (snip). You probably could put duct tape over it, too, to quiet it.

All that beeping is just too much for me, and I don't think my neighbors like it, either.

The beep on my 2006 is fairly quiet, so it's not that annoying. That said, I don't know of any way to disable it short of pulling wires.

I have no buzzing, never did, on my 2006.
I know you can turn the light flashing on/off.

    would the attached document help?

I read the PDF. It offers a lot of features, but none of them refer to "silent entry". Thanks, though.

Not having smartkey, lemme ask this: if you disable smartkey
with the button under the steering column and then use the
remote "clicker", does the car still beep? My car without
smartkey also means it doesn't have that beeper, so I guess
    I got lucky on that.

That's because you have the base model.
