My new Prius came in last Thursday. I drove it a lot and kept hoping the gas indicator would go down so I could justify filling it up. Finally, after 183 miles I couldn't wait any longer. I had to see if the 63 miles miles that it said I was averaging was correct. Well, it wasn't. It took 2.75 gals which figures out to be 65.8!!! I am one happy camper!!!

What does it mean when the battery in the "energy" picture turns from blue to green?

The State of Charge (SoC) for the traction battery is displayed by the number of bars and color. The color is really a redundant indicator, but it makes it easier to see at a glance. At the low end, the battery bars are purple. In the middle range, the bars are blue. At the high end, the bars turn green.

The Prius tries to keep the battery charged to a middle setting, so you normally see blue bars, but it's not uncommon for the SoC to go up and down, depending on cabin heating requirements and the number and type of hills you go up and down.

Don't worry you won't always get that great of gas mileage. I got really high numbers like that when I first got my Prius but then the numbers went down.
