Enjoy it while you can. You're not married yet. She may be doing this in the hopes that you will pop the question. If she feels that isn't going to happen she is going to find someone else. When your Stepford Girlfriend finds a guy that treats her well, changes HER flats and serves HER breakfast in bed, and takes out the trash she is going to drop you and marry him.

fix-a-flat now has a tpms safe formula, please disregard older posts about it on these message boards. tpms safe is defined as after you clean the stuff from rim using a rag and water or mineral spirits, and blast the inside and surrounding area of the actual sensor with compressed air, the tpms sensor is good as new, might require a reset procedure though. the new formula no longer permanently damages tpms sensors.

the can has the words 'tpms sensor safe' on the front.

Funny....I told my daughter the same thing...she does not get a license until she learns how to change the tire. Even in the age of cell phones and AAA, I want to make sure she can take care of herself.

I've never understood why anybody would ever change a flat, unless they had a blowout. Throw a small $20 12v compressor under the trunk floor. Get a flat, pump it up and drive to the tire place. In the last 20 years of driving I've never changed a flat (on my cars). Even if you can hear it hissing (and most time you can't), you can pump it up and go far enough to hit a garage or tire place. Or pump it up again and keep going!

Why change a flat other than a blow out?

My experience is that it depends on the car you drive and the tires on that car that impact the handling in different ways.

I have driven cars that I did not know I had a flat until I had run on it so much that the sidewalls were damaged. In other cars I knew by the handling when the pressure was low and was able to pump it back up.

The new TPMS equipment does make it easier to know when there is a pressure problem.

But..still...making sure my daughter knows how to change the tire is important before she starts driving...as does knowing the proper and safe way to jump start a car (and knowing to call dad BEFORE trying that on the Prius). I did the same thing with my son when he started driving.
