MFD and Actual MPG way Off

Are you resetting the MFD mileage when you fill up? If not, then it shows the cumilative MPG since the last time you reset it, which will change at a slower and slower rate as the miles add up.

If you are resetting the display, then likely you didn't get a full tank. You will know this if your next tank calculates out to way less MPG than you were expecting.

Over time this averages out.

they are also the part of americana that carries an average $8500 balance on their credit cards....

as for me...

$5000: average monthly charge on the three cards we use
ZERO: average carry over balance
$860: cash back earned last year....should be slightly higher this year because of 3% cash back on all gas we buy.

 

True, Many Americans are not facing reality and only do when some catastrophe occurs, ie: losing job, house, car, running out of unemployment ins. Next step is the streeets. Call it outrageous if you like, but it is true. Fortuneately somewhere along that line most people correct thier bahavior. But excessive credit starts it. As for not wanting to converse about your Prius and its benefits, your coworkers would have to admit that you are right and that's difficult! Besides they are stuck with this monthly truck payment.

up until the 1st of October, my earnings on my stocks and 401K were merely disappointing... but in the month of October alone, i have lost 25% of the value of my 401K, and 35% of the value of my stocks...

now i actually kicked around the idea of moving a large chunk of the 401k into "guarranted" safe investment (it has only lost about 6% in value recently) this spring when gas started to rise as i figured it would put a major hurting on the industry especially after seeing the long haul trucker's plight. knew the ripple would grow from there as it filtered down to me and it was a big ripple to begin with.

Don't feel bad, in Jan I switched everything around and went to Tip funds ( as I felt very strongly that the market was in trouble) and I would have been fine except a certain member of my family said we were missing all the raises in the market. So I switched everything into Van Guards diversified SAFE Funds, they then proceeded to go down thousands more. I finally said the hell with it and invested in very high dividend oil trusts. That day, oil stocks started to go down and kept going down for about 2-3 months Finally within the last week the market has finally turned around and I can proudly say that I am actually less than 50% down. It really didn't matter what you had in the market, just about everything went down. I keep about 20 different theoretical portfolios on my laptop and they all went down. But the last 7 days have been up and things are improving. Things looked bad for many with IRA's and 401K's but if this represents long term don't worry about it. YOU CAN'T GO TO ZERO ( Unless all your 401K money is in the company you work for!) Since I am now well retired I have modified my investment approach, to invest in dividend paying companies and don't worry about the NAV or stock price. Working people have to do the same.:cheer2:
