OK, having problems finding a good HH technical forum. Thought you Prius guys would be a good source of inform. (If any knows of a good HH forum let me know)

I lubed the brake calipers on my 2006 Highlander Hybrid yesterday. During the process I compressed a brake caliper. When I turned the key ON I immediately received the "CHECK VSC SYSTEM" message and now have the RED & YELLOW brake warning and ABA lamps lit, in addition to the VDIM lamp ("slippery" depiction).

I maybe should had pump the brakes to "reset" the caliper pistons before turning the key ON (not sure whether it would have made a difference).

Anyways, there is nothing physically wrong with the braking system other than the computer apparently senses a temporary abnormal condition (low brake pressure on the depress caliper?). Brakes are functioning normal, other than the ABS (and likely the VDIM response) are not responding.

Does anyone know whether the computer will clear the warning conditions after a predetermined period of time? Or do I need to take it to Toyota to get it reset?

Is it possible to relube the calipers without triggering a computer upset?

    Thanks

well it usually means something relating to ABS isn't functioning. It could be the ABS, the VSC or any electronics associated with it. I'm not sure if pumping the brakes (or compressing as you put it) prior to starting the car would do anything (unless somehow the lubed interfered with some wires).

You can also check the GreenHybrid.com website for another source of HiHy owners. Priusonline.com also has more technical people onboard that may be able to help.

did what tideland said to do - pumping the brakes before you start the car work? If not, did you get the lights to reset and go off?? Thanks, steve
