    Usually the first bar is 2 miles, the next 4, then the middle last longer - probably to about 20 miles when I get into the bottom two purple bars. They are generally gone within a few miles and at times the pack cuts out from 2 bars. I've also noticed an increase in beeps (though I don't see flashing on the LED) - I was wondering if this was just going in and out of EV - usually 1-4 beeps.

    I'm running the charge through my P3 Kill-a-watt tonight - so I'll see how much it draws from empty. I do have a scan gauge, but am not set up to monitor draw on the pack while driving - are there codes for this, or would you need to connect to the serial port on the pack to access this type of data?

    I have noticed the beeps denying EV mode when the stock Prius battery gets overcharged. For example, my neighborhood is up a steep 1/2 mile hill. So every morning I have a 1/2 mile decline and my NiMH Prius battery recaptures a lot of regenerative energy. By the time I get to the bottom of the hill, my NiMH battery is always at 8/8 and overflowing. This forces the Hymotion Prius out of EV mode every time at the bottom of that hill.

    I was wondering if that would happen. I was thinking I probably have to adjust my driving habits using a lot more glide and or light pressure to stay with the yellow arrow. SVPriusFan's comment of running down the stock battery before getting on the freeway makes sense as the hymotion will charge it back up. also, with my +40 mile drive and the pack averaging only 25 miles prior to depletion, I have to focus on maximizing pack life while it lasts and then shift back to best practices for the stock prius behavior.

    I may query Hymotion about my range. I just wonder if they could provide a case scenario for 30-40 miles I could duplicate with the pack? I keep wondering if there is a day with a good tail wind if I might see 30+, but that day hasn't come yet. I'll keep you posted and I owe some pics of my new grill blocked with pipe foam.

    That confirms what we said on the other forum. That the fully charged battery lasts the same amount of TIME, regardless of how fast you go. Your mpg, however, may vary!

    You drive 34 miles in 60 minutes. How LONG will it take to drive 22 miles?
    ie., 34 is to 60 as 22 is to X :: So X = 38.8 minutes.

    Likewise, at 60 miles / hour you can also drive "40 miles" (well, that's about 38.8). :)

    gkalkas, that makes sense based on what I am observing on a daily basis.

    However, do you think anything is being consumed when you are coasting or in stealth mode with Hymotion on? The energy screen shows regen happening to the stock battery. Do you think "minutes" are ticking off and energy is being used from the Hymotion battery?

    PeakOilGarage, Good point. But just to get our terminology in sink,
    To me, Stealth means, powered by the battery (not engine), which is the coolist thing about the Hymotion install.
    Coasting means foot off gas, and getting regen.
    Glide means coasting with no regen, energy screen shows no arrows, slight foot pressure on pedal. This is used extensively in "pulse and glide".

    Ok, I believe the Hymotion install allows for some, but not as much regen to the Prius battery as w/o Hymotion. (a small price to pay).

    That said, I believe coasting and gliding should not deduct battery power, and should therefore lengthen battery charge time (normally about 40 minutes)!

    But I'm only guessing :)

    PS. did you happen to catch my question on the Hymotion forum?

    Jan. 8 is the big date!
