Hate to say it, he's right....I feel so stupid for buying my Prius that's saved me 8000 gallons of gas over my Expedition since I got it 5 years ago.

And he's right...gas is cheap and will keep getting cheaper and cheaper...one day it'll be so cheap it'll be cheaper do drive a huge SUV than a small economy car.

In fact, I bet we're going to have trouble deciding what to do with all the excess oil that is developing each and every day....far beyond our ability to refine and use it all I"m sure.

And I'm sure we'll find that particulate and CO2 emissions are actually GOOD for us and make the air around us cleaner.

Oh, and those silly terrorists being funded by the profits reaped from our odious consumption of fossil fuels...I'm sure they're now ceasing all their efforts and are no longer a threat or issue we need to be concerned about.

    Burn (gas) baby burn!

Absolutely no reason to own a Prius....

i totally yearn for the days i spent $40 to top off my gas tank, this whole $10/tank thing blows. what's more fun that working a tiny shoestring budget around my need to drive to work and back 7 days a week?

That article was great! I've never seen so many bridges burnt so quickly. Talking about leaving yourself wide open for regret later when the market recovers.

Its tempting to compose a counter-article. Makes you wonder if any of his audience would care though. With such blatant disregard for the future, it was obvious act of final spite.

Change is coming. Some resist fiercely to the bitter end, enjoying those last moments of denial.

It is clear that he has never been in or driven a Prius before. It seems all that he "sees" about Prius is through his nerdy glasses colored in hate.

I miss the days of being stuck in traffic, at a stoplight, railroad track, etc, etc.... idling away fuel, maybe hearing a fan kick on to cool my uber-cool engine. I think I'll trade in my Prius for that new 2010 Camaro SS coming out next year ... 6.2L V8 whoopee! can't wait.

    yeah right.

Maybe dude is a bit right about the hill climbing thing. Best to have some speed and momentum getting started up a hill. The oh ten should care of the slight lack of power while upping the eye candy factor.

Like was said, dude never rode in a Prius, just judging the book by its cover. Pity foo.

I am delighted that you hippies linked over to me.

    Mr. Donut I appreciate the props and linkage to my fine blog. You little greentards have been saying some pretty mean things about me. So please allow me to retort;

Thank you for reading my blog and your kind words. I assure you in fact that literally dozens of pre-pubescent boys read this blog. Not just two or three. And they are all unanimous in their opinion than the Prius is “a slow girls car†that when they actually do get their learner’s permits would not want to drive.

I myself drive a v-8 powered muscle car. It sounds and drives like a real car should. The Prius on the other hand sounds strikingly similar to my Roomba when it gets wrapped up in a lamp cord. Not to disparage the Roomba because I am pretty sure it will accelerate faster and cover more distance on a full charge than the Prius.

May your roads always be downhill and your traffic pattern slow. (so that you can actually keep up) And to whomever linked in from your hippie circle jerk thank you for the inbound link.

You know that Camero is actually pretty cool looking. The new Charger isn't bad either.

Myself I'm more into the imported performance cars. The Germans are making some fine machinery these days. But I do have to admit there is nothing that sounds quite as good as a pissed off small block chevy.

Thanks a lot for reading my blog. I have upcoming articles which will impune some religious groups, a story about my dog's balls, and a tribute to the wonders of alcohol. I do promise that I will follow those stories with plenty of articles that will be of interest to uptight hippies and enviro-tards.Thank you for your support.

    Grumpy,

V8 powered muscle car. Yeah! That's the future. Let's all drag race down the boulevard for pinks, then head over to the local drive-in for burger, fries, and a coke ... Real American Food (I saw a sign just like that at an A&W yesterday, along with some dudes with 58 in. waistlines. :p)

Couple months ago I 'needed to' drive someone elses 90 somethin' Mustang GT, 5 speed manual car several miles. Couldn't wait to get out of that thing. What a PITA for getting from point A to point B.

I've ridden sport bikes for over 10 years, don't need kicks in a sports car.

O yeah, yee haw oil prices go down so lets go get a huge V8 (insert vehicle type here) that gets 15mpg so we can shit on any benefit.

Any educated person would use the savings towards bills or food or other necessary items. Then again, the Big 3 need help because they have been making quality autos that are as reliable as they are pretty.

PS Nice V8 muscle car that you use to compensate for your lack of self esteem and to give you the ego boost that you need:)

It's true the Prius demand went through the roof this Spring and Summer along with the gas prices. Gas prices were just not a big consideration for me in buying this car. I don't even drive over 10k miles a year.

But, I won't soon forget getting stuck in The worst traffic on a two lane road, trying to get to Half Moon Bay on a Sunday afternoon. My little car is just sittin' there quiet as a mouse, inching forward on battery/electric when able, while most other cars, conventionals, are just burnin' up their fuel for the next 45 minutes.

How interesting that the OP just joined, and his 2nd post is this inbound link to GrumpyNerd's blog...

Hmm... and how interesting that GrumpyNerd likes European cars, like BMW's, and the 2nd thread that the OP is involved in he talks about BMW's...

    Hmmmmmm......

I love how he says,"I myself drive a v-8 powered muscle car." Whats wrong with just saying the car model.

Also gas will probably just go up again anyways. People seem to be forgetting that and are going out and buying gas guzzlers again. So what, let them. If you want to drive a particular car that you like then you should get it. Its your money. You're the one working for it, so you should be able to spend it on something that you want and not have to care what other people think.

But its his opinion just trying to get people riled up the same way that other people complain about gas guzzlers.

Because there is little to brag about in driving a 1968 307 chevy Impala with rust holes in the front fenders.

Good morning Lumpy-Turd, uh, I mean GrumpyNerd. I do not need to go to your blog. You can say all you want, there are no laws against acting stupid.

I like the new Camaro and Challenger. The new corvette gets pretty good mileage too. American muscle cars are cool, especially the new Challenger, that's cool for sure. We saw one pass us on the freeway the other day, sharp looking car no doubt.

We bought our Prius because we commute 30 thousand miles a year on the southern california freeways. The little yellow clean air decals save me a lot of time in the carpool lane. Time is money after all.

I just dropped off the kids at the pool, make room lumpy turd, you'll have company. I wish I could send the kids to the G W sewage treatment facility up north. Oh well, the Hyperion outlet near Santa Monica will have to do. gurgle gurgle flush flush....bye lumpy turd.

I kind of enjoy his replies that he posted on this thread. The comments about the sound and performance of a Prius are true, or close to true. The performance of the Prius is fine for transportation - there is no need for more - but it won't impress any high-performance auto enthusiasts. On the other hand, I, as an actual certified nerd, enjoy the way the Prius drives.

I do wish Mr. Nerd would stop painting us all with the same brush. Many of us are not hippies or environmental nut cases, no more than Mr. Nerd being the same as the "get'er done" rednecks driving pickup trucks. They might both despise the Prius, but they certainly come at it from different directions. That's true with Prius owners too.

    Tom
