When I'm not playing Wii Fit, being an old-school pinball fanatic, I'm usually playing Pinball Hall of Fame: The Williams Collection.
Now I would like that. I'm an old pinball mechanic. I used to repair them when I was in college. Recently I helped a high school student bring one back to life for a school project. It brought back lots of memories. I was a big fan of Nip-It. Do you have a favorite? Tom
i actually find it pretty entertaining. we have had several pizza parties with wii fit and the bowling, etc. we have had ours for nearly a year... just got a few new shooter games, so life goes on some of the most hilarious laughing fits i have ever had was while doing wii fit yoga with a bunch of first timers. as far as the graphics goes, to be honest with ya. have played on plenty high end gaming systems and never once was my sense of reality threatened...
Game graphics are an interesting topic of discussion, much like special effects in movies. Good graphics are always better than poor graphics, but good graphics do not automatically make a good game, just as good special effects do not automatically make a good movie. Game play is by far more important than graphics, and I'm afraid this concept has largely been lost in the transition to more powerful gaming systems. Some new games are good, but many are just eye candy. Tom
Wii Mario Cart is the best racing game I've ever played. Although the battle mode pisses me off. In the old school Mario cart, you could battle with 2-4 players and fight it out to the death. This version forces you to battle with computer characters so it becomes a giant free for all against the computer instead of your opponent.
another thing touched on, my parents who are in their 70's, my dad has various infirmities that prevent him from doing most exercises other than low key water aerobics. but last summer when visiting he very much enjoyed the wii sports, namely bowling (he bowled for YEARS in leagues) so us kids pitched in and got him a game. we all agreed, it was the perfect low key activity he could enjoy that would benefit him
bingo!! and Wii realized it and look at what they are doing now.... the graphics have not improveed, the sales have not slowed down...
Okay, is anyone so pathetically out of shape that they get sore from playing Wii Sports? The extensors in my forearms hurts from tennis backhands, my shoulder, right tricep and trapezius have all become sore at some point, too.
I just discovered an easter egg for the standard jogging program. When a dog passes you, pass the mii who is guiding you and catch up to the dog - you now will be following the dog onto a different path! When a dog passes you again, you can pass the first dog and now follow the second for a third path. Cool.
Our local nursing home recently got several Wii's. Apparently they are quite popular for this, the residents stay active much longer and take to it quite well.
Is that in the cardio section? I just checked that out last night. Sweet! The running in place was the thing I checked out last night. I'll have to try that trick. PS - My Yoga instructor is a babe, and I must admit it's nice having someone in the game paler than me during the Colorado winter.
had a pretty hilarious new years eve(especially considering that there was not a drop of alcohol) with the wii yoga game with a small group of us.... this morning, my stomach is soooo sore...but not from exercising, its from laughing!!
I owned a Wii for a couple years, before trading it to my sister for a PS3. I miss the Wii. It's a fantastic party system. You may have never played video games, but you can still play the Wii. I recommend checking out Rayman: Rabing Rabbids. It's a rediculous collection of minigames. It's fun for single player, but incredibly ludricrous with 4 players. I also recommend a look at Excite Truck, if you like driving games. It's kinda like Mario Kart with monster trucks.
That is pretty cool! We actually did get the original Raving Rabbids since it was rated highly, and only $20 at Target! We like it! I guess there's a new version out that they're marketing as "a game you can play with your butt" if you have a Wii Balance Board. Looks interesting.
