Boy, something is eating those up
While I don't have that many miles yet, at 8200 miles, the thread was 8/32", not sure what it was new.

 

I'm at 41k with 5/32 on the original tires. Either you don't have enough air in them or there's something wrong with the car. Get an alignment when the new tires go on.

 

Good tires. They are what I run on my 2006.

I disagree about the Mivhelin MXV4's. I will probably get all kinds of bad comments about this, but..... The MXV's are junk. They were original equipment on my 2002 Hyundai XG350L. I barely got 30k and they were BALD! The tire store said they were worn straight and no alignment was needed, they were just prematurely worn out. They had me call Michelin who said that I was lucky to get 30k. I said that the tire store warranted them for 50k and he laughed. I've never had a set of Michelins wear less than 60k. All Michelin would do as a courtesy was give me 10% off a set. For a $130 tire it wasn't much so I bought Goodyear Eagle GT 2's, also warranted for 50k and got the 50k out of them. So, I still like Michelin's, But NOT the MXV4's. So, good luck with them........

 

They are good tires, but don't have extreamly long tread life. It's all a matter of expectations. Your comment is like saying the Prius isn't a good car because it can't tow your horse trailer. It's all a mater of expectations. It sounds to me like your tire dealer was a little shady when he sold you the MXVs.

Our MXV4+ Energies have 30,000 miles and are doing fine. Will they make it too 50,000 and still be usable? Not a chance. I will probably replace them before next winter.

My experience with MXV4+ "Energy Saving" Michelins (185/65HR15) was that they were good tires. They went 55k miles (versus 44.5k for the GY Integrity tires that were no longer safe) and still were usable in reasonable weather when I replaced them with Nokian WRs (even better tires, the MXV4+ were no longer available in the correct size) as winter approached. They are indeed a 50k mile tire if your alignment is good, have the correct load rating, and you don't push your car into hard turns often. I run my tires at 42/40 psi which seems to help maintain tread wear.

My MXV4+ tires still have good tread. What happens with me is that the winter performance becomes unacceptable long before the tire wear out. That's why I will replace mine before next winter. I'm planning on buying Nokian WRG2s at this point.

The WRg2's will be much better on ice and snow than the MXV4+ ever were. My WRs (aggressive tread on both edges, so a little better in snow than the WRg2, but also a little noisier) are in their 2nd winter at 39.5k miles and are still performing well in ice and snow. The performance comes from a rubber compound that stays flexible in the cold and deep small siping that grip the ice.

I really like my Michelin Energy XM1+ tyres. Much better than the standard Energy XM1 tyres that came as standard on the Prius.

What's with these Integrity tires. We have 20k and down to 2/32 all around. Have rotated every other oil change and went with 42 / 40. The wife hit the skids last night on the gravel to avoid a deer and the son tells me this morning we have a flat.

I jack the car up and sure as Sh!t, there's a leak in a small rock stuck in the tire. Also what's with these beauty rings and the amount of dirt they collect. I am wondering if this isn't part of why people are having problems with tires. I have been driving for 35+ years and never had a rock puncture a tire.

Any way, I take the tire in to have it repaired and the rock inside the tire is big. Here comes a new set of shoes.

Looking at the Michelin HydroEdge. Is this the same as the mxv4 plus?

 

Yep, the Integrities don't last all that long. As for the trim rings, I removed mine after the first week and thus the wheels stay a lot cleaner, but nevertheless acquired a nail and slow leak in the right rear two months ago :_>

 

I suppose it's a soft compound. Understand the concept behind HydroEdge, was wondering about the mileage hit.

It seems like if you go with a high mile tire the compound is harder for wear but then you get the noise.

Have looked at the threads on tires and deal with Sam's because of warranty and rotation of tires every 5k. They don't have the Goodyear TT but they have Bridgestone - Potenza - GY Assurance 60k / and Assurance comfort tread 80k, They also have a 65k BF goodrich which is a 65k tire that spins at the same rate as an Integrety.

I couldn't get over how much crud the rings attracted. I live 1 1/2 miles off a black top, my road has great gravel but when it rains it's mud. I usually rub the inner wheels on my vehicles a day or two after a rain but these rings a rediculious.
