Three packages here too, none of which have SKS. Eight airbags are fitted on all models, plus ABS, VSC, alarm (including ultrasonic sensors) and immobiliser. Metallic paint is a £345 option on all 'grades', leather is a £1,325 option.

The base T3 (which I have) has CD player (no MP3/WMA or Aux input socket) with six speakers, 'analogue' MFD, 16" alloy wheels with locking wheelnuts, leather-trimmed steering wheel. Tonneau cover is standard. Cost is £17,870.

The T4 adds front fog lamps, 9-speaker 6-CD changer, 'digital' MFD, Aux input, and cruise control. Costs £18,655 (£785 more).

The T-Spirit adds to T4 Bluetooth, parking camera and parking assist, and nav. It costs £20,710 (£2,840 more than T3). That's a heck of a lot of money for very few additional features.

I bought my car as an ex-demonstrator, one of several at the dealer. I decided to go for the slightly newer T3 as I didn't feel that I needed any of the T4's features.

You do have to understand that more than half of the cars built have been sold in North America. According to Toyota's 'Million Prius' press release, of 1,027,700 cars sold, 591,600 were sold in North America, 315,000 in Japan, 100,700 in Europe and 20,400 elsewhere. According to the UK industry body

Fred, We haven't see the price structure just yet. Toyota also want the demand to be equal to production capacity and they don't want to give the cars away. The key to a successful venture is a reasonable profit.

So there seem to be two different opinions on this thread: 1) Toyota may only have three option packages in the 2010 Prius, and we'll just have to live with it, or 2) The silver/gold/platinum packages are for pre-orders only, and when sales are announced to the general public, there may be more packages. I have a depost down on a 2010 Prius, but if I will have more flexibility to build the car I want by waiting, I'll probably do that. Toyota - given that demand may not be as strong as you might have predicted a year ago, what's my incentive to pre-order? Supply may not be constrained at launch because of the economy, so unless the silver/gold/platinum are the only packages that will ever be available, why shouldn't I wait and see if I can work a better price with the dealers?
I think most of us would REALLY like to have more package options-the three you have picked, while I understand the rationale behind them, will give a "base", "upper tier," and "fully loaded" stratification in your marketing; if the base models are in short supply, it will look like you are doing a bait and switch to much more expensive models. I think you should have at least one and probably two more tiers - I'm sure there is discussion about a "bronze" model that is lower than silver to compete with the Insight, but the most important package to me is the addition is an "electrum" option that is between silver and gold. That's the one I'd plunk money down for today (if it had the solar sunroof - we need it here in Texas!).

Hello! This is my first post here on Prius Chat. I'm looking to buy my first Prius as soon as the 2010 comes out and I will definitely be going to take a sneak peak at the Chicago Auto Show in a couple weeks.

I'm really torn between the Gold and Platinum package. I was really holding out to buy the 2010 Prius because I was hoping Toyota would finally decide to have a moonroof. Much to my excitement, I was right. Problem is, I also want the larger 17" alloy wheels, because frankly, I don't like the look of the 15" wheels, and we no longer will have the choice of 16" wheels. I'd also like to have the LED headlamps, but it's not a necessity, and I could care less about fog lamps and all the other extras. I don't think I'm willing to give up the moonroof and solar panels for a little vanity. My question is: would I be able to go with the Gold package, and then buy larger (either 16" or 17") Toyota or aftermarket wheels and tires for my Prius with no issues? Any thoughts or suggestions on this topic would be greatly appreciated.

For clarity - PRE orders are by special invitation only, and there are only 3 packages to choose from.

When final pricing and packages are announced, I'd expect at least 7 different option packages based on a list that was leaked and then retracted, including the 3 available to the Prius Priority order folks.

Isn't that almost always the case? I guess it all comes down to how much you need the car when it becomes available. If you can wait, you may be able to work out a better deal. It all depends on the economy and demand for the new Prius. If there's a lot of pent up demand for the 2010 Prius in your area, you may have to wait a while longer after it's released to get yours.

Personally, my local dealer asked me to plunk down $500 to get on their wait list, but I'm holding out a tad longer. It rubs me the wrong way to have to part with cash to wait for something they won't get for many more months...and I don't even know pricing yet! Given that there are a LOT of cars on their lot, I figure I have a little more time.

Yes, I saw it. I mentioned it to Prius Team, and the list shortly thereafter disappeared. A CA dealer had posted it. Until Toyota will confirm it to be legit, I'm not going to bother posting what I "thought" I saw. It very well may be correct, but I'd rather not be in the position of being wrong.

I can say that based on the list, Solar and LED will not happen, but Solar could happen w/o leather. The list could be wrong though.

If it was legit 2nd from 'best' option had LED's with the 17 rims and leather, navi but NOT the advanced technology package. But still no solar/moonroof. Basically no moonroof/solar once you get the 17" rims. Again, that's if it was legit. Also, the advanced tech was shown at an extra $4500 (maybe it was 4k).

Correct, if the list was correct, the Solar/leather/15" was also priced the same as Leather/17" w/ Navi w/o High Tech. Again, that's if the list was correct.

So that means solar panel moonroof = 17" alloys plus nav?

And there will be a solar panel option without nav as one of the official photos show.

In price, yes, if the list was correct. The 17" version included LED headlights as well.

I believe that would be true as well if the list we saw is correct.

which also confirms the fact that I kept saying that ACC/PCS/LKA isn't cheap. $4.5k for those? eek! Is IPA also in it or is it bundled with the nav?

IPA was part of the high tech package, and I believe it was $4600 per the list. It was a significant chunk of change.

IPA, ACC, PCS, LKA... seems right.

ACC + PCS already cost $2,600 on an ES350.

    Rick,

One item that does intrigue me are the LED headlights. In the list that you saw (real or imaginary) were the LED headlights always tied to a package (likely high end)? If I had my choice, I'd like a low end package but have the opportunity to have LED's. But, I'm thinking that the LED's will be similar to the HID's (e.g. only available on the high end packages).
