Wow, I hope this doesn't set hybrids back! How scary...

As far as I can tell, the explosion happened in the FRONT of the vehicle... the batteries are in the rear.

I think you need to wait for more info before drawing any conclusions.

 

I think the fact this guy was driving a hybrid is a coincidence. I don't believe the explosion had anything to do with the hybrid components. As stated the explosion was in the front and the batteries are in the rear.

Perhaps someone had it in for this guy? Dum...dum..duuum

Update: Oh I see there was a "bomb" involved.

 

It was just announced on CNN at 1:22PM that it was a bomb that caused the explosion. The case has been turned over to the FBI.

Thankfully it had nothing to do with the hybrid batteries.

 

CNN front page breaking news says it was a bomb.

I cannot imagine any failure in any current hybrid that would blow the front of the car up, maybe the rear (though really unlikely).

 

This guy has enemies!

 

Does anyone remember that when Toyota was developing the Prius initially the IGBT exploded in the lab? Maybe a defective IGBT in the RX400h then? I know that several Toyota engineers were injured in the blast. The IGBT is located exactly where the explosion allegedly occured. I have thought about it from time to time, but ignore it. I really hope that this was not a failed IGBT, as it could send a bunch of Hybrid owners into panic.

Is it possible he was targeted because he was driving a hybrid???

I sense the beginnings of an internet rumor. Soon those darn fuel efficient hybrids will be exploding all around us. Then maybe those evil Prius drivers will stop beating up old men in trucks.

 

I told you hybrids are dangerous. They should ban those darned things.

If the bomb really was intended for the doctor-administrator, I wonder if
he has anything to do with abortion clinics, or malpractice reviews.

 

That GM Trucks community sure does have a definite bias...against Prius owners.
I never thought of myself as a ..."gay"...or even inconsiderate...just someone who wants to drive an environmentally clean, comfortable, economical, and fun car.
I recommend you PC "guys" stay away from those GM trucks and their site. It's unsafe and bad for your blood pressure
