anybody try to install a stock prius jbl system into a non-jbl prius? im thinking this just to get the low watt speaker/amp combo to not effect my MPGs. is this stupid? the speakers are easy enough, but any idea how the amp install might work? is it pre-wired or am i gonna have to run lots of stuff under the passenger seat to get it to work?

I think you will be better served with a set of aftermarket speakers from Infinity, Kenwood or even an aftermarket JBL speaker.

You can install the JBL system but you will have to fabricate the harness that goes to the JBL amp. You will also have to adapt the stock dash wiring to the JBL headunit and you will have to change the rear door panels to add the tweeter pods.

The JBL system is not very good, and you may find the results are not worth the effort.

I liked it. At least it has nothing common with 'native' cheapo buzzers I listened on another prius.
But right, there's plenty of work. You'll have to change the radio as well, and redo lots of wiring.
