the second comment that was left gave me a good chuckle. overall though it does make sence to do some patrolling in a fuel efficient car, the radio (backup) and camera can do the rest. will a shotgun fit in the front?

Is it common practise in the States to strategically place boxes to cave in policemen's heads when they roll the car?

I don't think the UK police are allowed to hang things from the roof inside.

I can't be bothered signing up to these sites to leave a comment, but I wanted to ask the second clown where he thinks 60% of the oil for that extra 3 gallons every 40 miles an American patrol car would use comes from? And, how many American soldiers have died to secure Americas oil supply?
Why does he think the Fusion will use less fuel than the Prius under patrol conditions?

Exactly what I was thinking. Given that the Prius uses 1/4 the fuel of the typical cruiser in those conditions...
Not sure, either. Even that car is made in Mexico.

FWIW, one local security company around here (Rancho Santa Fe Security) seems to use 100% hybrids for their patrol fleet - seems to be pretty evenly mixed between the Prius and Honda Civic Hybrid.

I've seen a couple of companies that use Prius' as their patrol vehicles. I know Securitas uses them for sure, white, base models. I'm curious to see what kind of MPG they get though.

San Jose uses a fair amount of Prii for parking enforcement.

The car of choice here for security patrols is the Yaris.
Companies who are fooled by low purchase price use Hyundai Getz.
I have never seen a Prius taxi or patrol car in South Australia but I have seen Prius cabs in NSW and QLD.
