Thankyou very much for the offer, I shall keep that in mind. He is still determining a direction to take now. He does want to go toward mechanical or civil engineering but computer science could have an attraction to him.

Tough now puts you in a better place later.
I somehow doubt he will study outside of Adelaide.
Thanks for the tip off though.

Relax. It was a false alarm.

That wasn't a bong, it was a device he uses to expand his lung capacity and the amount of smoke he expels is a measure of his improvement.

My Doctor has me use a similar device in the office on every visit. My damaged lungs can't blow more than550 on some scale or other. I practice at home too with another variation of that device and use smoke displacement as a measure.

Those are also excellent fields to get into. Provide strong encouragement, especially in maths, he will need a lot of it

I see a lot more job ads for Civil Eng than Mech Eng here in the Sac area. Plus Caterpillar and Boeing are going to layoff several boatloads of people in the next year.

    I should stop watching/reading the news. :(

I'm weening myself from the news. It's too depressing. I'm surprised Pfizer is laying people off.

And put an end to a corrupt, legalized crime organization? All those folks at the DEA losing their jobs? No more meddling in central and south american politics??

You cold hearted man you. I'm really disappointed

It must be all those people using pot to control the pain of cancer who are setting a bad example for our youth. The DEA regularly shuts down medicinal marijuana stores here in California. The stores are legal by California law, and are known to the local authorities. Cancer patients are so much safer to attack than gun toting growers.

right now its big business that is financing most of the illegal drug trade now on the American end. how is it that drug smugglers get in so well with major trucking companies, etc? after all, we aint talking about smuggling stuff in your underwear. these guys dont deal by the truckloads, they need a FLEET of trucks and a regular shipping network to move the volume of product they deal with.

one of the largest drug busts in history had more than 2 dozen leading businessmen from San Diego to San Francisco area. some were executives for banks, shipping companies, warehouses, etc... each one covering financing, shipping, storage and distribution for a piece of the action

Let's not forget the local "officials" who nudge, wink, and look the other way. Unless you forget to cough up their cut, then look out.

Anybody who believes such a large scale activity can operate in an age of advanced metacube and hypercube entity analytics, orbital keyhole surveillance with <50 cm resolution, purely by chance, is a fool

If you *really* want to insult my intelligence, suggest that RICO level activity can occur WITHOUT at least tacit approval of the Powers To Be. Too funny

Interesting how the other people - mere mortals and not gold medal Olympic superstars - actually WERE arrested. Now, that couldn't mean a double standard, could it??
