Don't we find it odd that these people even got arrested at all, not saying that Phelps has gotten off "scott-free" either with the missing endorsements. Yet a Company (Peanut Corp. of America) can have their CEO take the 5th, kill a few people, and sicken hundreds, and not one of them were arrested! I guess good old fashioned American Justice is alive and well!

Let's not forget that Peanut Corp of America has also filed for bankruptcy protection. Those killed and severely sickened by the tainted peanuts will probably be left with a giant goose egg

There was water in that bong. Maybe that's why Michael was confused.

He probably would've been spared all this grief had he done steroids instead -- like the rest of them star athletes.

Precisely. If you McGuire or "A-Rod" you're a hero for it

I'm not sure where you're getting that idea. The reason McGuire, A-rod and Bonds (just to name a few) were considered "heroes" is because they supposedly accomplished their athletic feats with their own "natural" abilities. Bonds is effectively disgraced now and there's even been talk of reinstating Hank Aaron as the home run leader in the record books. Hell, there was talk of an "asterisk tainted record" even before Bonds surpassed Aaron. McGuire had that "supplement" controversy that was given a token amount of discussion and then swept under the rug.

You can certainly argue that professional sports leagues, fans and the media are more than willing to look the other way so long as there's no hard incriminating evidence of performance enhancing drugs but you'd be hard pressed to find anyone openly defending known steroid users or holding them up as heroes.

Hey, the guy only won 8 gold medals in the ENTIRE 2008 Olympics! If that doesn't scream slacker, I don't know what does. ;)

I think he even swam one whole pool length without taking a breath.

So maybe he didn't inhale after all...

Which gets back to my arguement that we shouldn't be lavishing all this attention and money on jocks
