Looks good although the indicators might be a tad hard to see.

:) I like it. For me it seems to make the bonnet look longer and the car more substantial and powerful from that angle at least...also, seems more sophisticated and mainstream, like the 2010.

Your point is valid. I took this photo as dusk approached, so will need another at noon to fully appreciate just how much the indicators suffer and if it presents any danger.

I think it looks good on a black car. My pearl color would look like a heroin addict with black eyeliner over the headlights.

Thanks - I've felt since day one that the headlight/indicator package was too large and this is my present solution to what bugged me.

    Another angle:

Here is the indicator on at high noon. The overlay does degrade the amount of light somewhat, but I think it is still visible enough.

I think it looks great. And your photos are terrific.

    Is it legal?

(Laws? We don't need no stinkin' laws!)

Well, I made them. I spent some time figuring out what I wanted, cut a template out of lexan (took three tries to get to the present iteration), and used it to cut out the vinyl. These are cut from static cling window tint material available from Home Depot and sold under the name 'Gila'. It does not have any adhesive, as some do, making it much easier to install. If you have ever tried to install overlays whith adhesive, you know how aggravating it can be. I do use the method of installation which wets all the surfaces and use a four inch squeegee covered with a microfiber cloth to apply it. Get all the water out from underneath and let it dry well, and you're good to go. Once dry they may even be polished with something like 3M Ultra-Fine and then waxed or sealed.

You would think they'd come off easily. Once applied and given time to dry thoroughly, they cling tenaciously. I had some similar for the taillights of my previous car - a Scion tC. They stayed on as long as I wanted (over a year). Had to let them dry well before subjecting to pressure washing. They are easily removed when wanted by getting a fingernail under the edge and pulling. they can even be re-applied.

I have had these on for only a week or so and already they have passed the high speed test - shhhhhh.

Well now that you mention the Home Depot availability, I'm in. Does the film only come in black?

There were other tints, but I was only looking for black.

I have seen the Gila tints at Advance Auto as well. They had different color tints, with and without adhesive. I looked at what they called 'Limo Tint' and it was lighter than the black I found at HD. They seemed to all be for automobile windows and seemed thinner than what I found at Home Depot as well. As you might guess, they were more expensive than HD.

I like it! This is something I will look into doing for Spring or Summer, if I decide to keep my black 06.
