Each year I prepare a worksheet of my credit card expenses, in order to prepare taxes.

For last year, I tracked my gas expenditures as well. (I always charge thatl). Now, from Jan to June, I had my Honda and my Dad's Jeep. I'd put one in the garage and use the other one, so they both got some usage. Sold his Jeep in June. Picked up Carmine on Aug 28th and sold my Honda.

Fascinating! Since my driving has been fairly static all through the year . . . I can see the huge bubble when gas prices went beserk, and the dramatic drop starting in September!

Jan missing statement, need to find it.
Feb. . . 94.55 ( I used the Jeep for 3 weeks to keep it going)
    Mar. . . .54.66
    Apr. . . 52.81
May. . 187.02 (used the Jeep for 3 weeks and gas prices jumped)
Jun. . . . 96.71 (sold Jeep, all usage from here on is the Honda)
    Jul . . . . 88.59
    Aug. . . . 84.52
    Sep. . . . 21.31 Carmine!
    Oct. . . . 30.49
    Nov. . . . 28.52
Dec . . . NO gas purchase, lol.

Maybe not interesting to anyone else, but I find it great!

OK, the trend is clear. Next month you start giving gas back to the station.

If you want some "fun" in this, you may be interested in using a spreadsheet to track you gas expenditures (and mileage) for your lovely Carmine.

Here is a thread where spreadsheets are discussed and offered: Personal Fuel Calculator. You may find one that is just right for you.

Hey noticed you have mud guards on Carmine. Just wondering, what's the effect on mpg? Did you happen to notice any?

I have not been able to exceed 73mpg on a tank with my mud flaps...very frustrating.;)

:D Oh yeah, just LOVE this car~ thanks Josh.

Danl, I can't tell you. I picked up Carmine on a Tuesday, installed the mud guards myself on Wednesday. the shark fin antenna on Thursday and the Ventureshield on Friday. Thanks to Prius Chat I knew exactly which after market stuff I wanted and had it all lined up.

I do NOT like the cold weather. I was geting 49.8 consistently for several months until the cold arrived. Now it keeps dropping, and now I am "down" to 45.8. I do have the grill block. As my longest trip is 12 miles one way, not a lot more I can do from the thread which lists what to do for cold weather MPGs. :(

Thanks for the link. I have been working on a spreadsheet to track mileage, etc. and those have some great features. I may add a column for service costs to get the total cost of ownership and cost per mile driven. I am only on my second tank after over a month of driving.
