Well... second door to the right

    Sorry, couldn't resist

More seriously, I found that my Prius is also difficult to fill up. I usually have to fill it at about half-speed (of the nozzle trigger travel) to avoid click-offs.

I tried a few gas stations in my area and found one where there is no issue, so I tend to go to that one.

We have the problem of the pump clicking off very, very frequently - not every time we try to fill up - but MOST of the time. Doesn't matter if using the slowest fill, or if you "aim" the nozzle left - right - straight, or if you fully insert the nozzle or partially insert the nozzle. The pump just clicks off as if the tank is full, when just starting and during filling (attempted filling, that is).

It can be a real pain at times - just doesn't want to take the fill, and you pump for 1 or 2 seconds - pump clicks off - pump again for 1 or 2 seconds - pump clicks off, etc...

Curious if anyone has figured out why this happens intermittently and what, if any, the solution is to this vexing problem? I spent about a half hour searching the forum, but can't find any real answer, just similar reports of we are experiencing.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I have to admit, with my 2007 I just don't have any of these problems. I buy gas at a variety of stations and fill up at 2 pips or about 400 miles. I always put in about 8 gallons and have NEVER had it overflow. It does not give me any trouble with different nozzles and flow rates. It always takes about the same amount, and I've never run out of gas either. I don't op off very much, but maybe a little on a long trip. I have 43K miles on mine now.

I don't doubt what everyone is reporting, I'm just commenting that at least mine doesn't do any of these things. That means there may be differences between individual cars that may be worth exploring further.

No it's not just you. That is EXACTLY the routine that I follow and get pretty much the same results. I attribute some of this to the fact I live in L.A. and we do not really freeze up here. There may be other factors, and I do feel for those with problems. It was interesting to hear NO bladder in the 2010!

    2 pips, 8 gallons, 400 Miles, under $20

    WOO HOO!
