    hi:

I hope someone can help me. I tried to replace the light bulb today (this is a non-HID head light) and I removed the connectors. then I removed the rubber cover that cover the bulb. however, I can never pull out the light bulb. Is there any trick for this? anyone has experience with replacing the light bulb for head light for prius? Thanks for your help

I haven't yet had the need to remove a bulb. However I think there is a spring that holds the base down, so you would have to move the spring out of the way. Then you should be able to pull the bulb out; if it doesn't move try rotating it counterclockwise as you pull.

Also, I suggest that you take a look at the replacement bulb (without touching the glass with your bare hands), as examining the base may give you a clue about how to remove the old bulb.

yes, I know there is a spring. well, after looking at the video you provide, look like there is a clip that lock the bulb. and I will try it again tomorrow. Thanks for the trick. I know that it is just some little trick. by the way, I have never tried that in my entire life. What do dealership charge for replacing head light bulb?

One PriusChatter reported that his Toyota dealer charges $45 for each OEM halogen head light bulb part (installation is extra).

Another PriusChatter reported that his Toyota dealer quoted him about $200 to $250 installation charge. But it wasn't clear to me whether that was for installing one or two bulbs.

I think it would be fair if a Toyota dealer were to charge half an hour labor for one, and either half an hour or an hour labor for two. I believe standard Toyota labor charges are $90 to $100 an hour.

My independent mechanic/body shop guy charged me $15 to install two bulbs.

I have finally replaced the bulb. Not too hard. you just need to know that little trick of it. Whoever replace a head light bulb in the future. I recommend you to get a mirror and look at the back of the head light after removing the rubber cover. then you will not just like me keep guessing and tried to keep pulling at all.

Dealer charge too much for the light bulb replacement. That is also another reason I always tried to avoid it. plus sometime dealer did not really do a good job.
