Guessing but it's an educated guess. Just take a look at the packages on your sheet and the packages posted by Prius Team. The options list is almost the same. There is nothing that's optional on the US models that is standard here like it used to be.

Traditionally, our cars are better equipped and in this case, it should continue to be (but this time around, it'll be limited to smaller items like automatic headlights, wheel locks, cargo net, mudguards etc.)

Speculation here, but from some rumblings from talking to dealers the base may be the same but compariative the prices have always been different, we had more standard options then the us but a higher base price even matching a equiv US package. Quite a few of the dealers think the base will try to compete more with the insight and be priced lower then the base 2009 was with the premium package filling the "base" price point (or close to, since the base won't be as cheap as the insight either)

If that's the case, we'll have some buffer for the Tech Pack. In addition, it'll kill HCH-II sales. The HCH-II has crept up in price and is now $27,350. The '09 had a price bump to $27,710 (previous $27,400). If the 2010's base price is lower than that, it will have serious effects on the HCH-II sales because it's much better equipped, more efficient and is more flexible in terms of cargo capacity.

A quick check of the "Build" functions for the two cars show that the Prius is about $600 more as a cash payment.

I have a hunch that the Insight LX will be Cdn$22k with the Insight EX at $25k. The $3k difference accounting for cruise, alloys, nav, VSA, bluetooth and a few other minor additions.

Most recent I have heard is closer to $24 & $27K (CAD) for the Insight.

I've just ordered the 2010 Prius - Cdn Tech Package and hoping not to see anything higher than 35... but we shall see. I went back and forth on the two for a long time, but the Prius is just better in every way but price. So I don't want more than 6-8K of guilt hanging over.

    Err.... that won't do lol.

$24k for an LX and $27k for an EX? Wow... does Honda want to kill its own HCH-II? It's priced at $27,350 and the Prius is at $27,710.

$35k is kinda pushing it... It's $33k now (ok almost $34k but the nav's price has come down since 2004) so $2k for leather, power lumbar support, heated seats, DRCC, IPA, PCS and power moonroof w/ solar panels is not gonna happen.

DRCC and PCS are expensive options (together, they're almost US$2,000 on the ES350). Nav is $1,660...

It's just a guess at this point, but my dealer was estimating it to come in at 35,720. I could see it coming in close 36k based on the cost savings, given that the current is 33k with nav but if toyota of japan was thinking about a 3k price cut over the current model then the cost savings might be enough to offset some of the features, I also think that might be a reason we're not getting LED headlights, I can't see them going above 38k.

    But I might be wrong,

Well I'm hoping that I'm wrong (I've been guessing $38k) cause $36k is very doable and a fantastic value for money.

I do wish it was packaged like the Prius V in the US. If I had to choose between a power moonroof w/ solar cells and the LED headlights, I'd take the LEDs (headlight washers are very handy in the winter). I also find it odd that the top Prius looks the same on the outside as a midrange (or the base model if one isn't keen enough to spot the solar panel moonroof)

I totally agree. I didn't read the original posting of the CDN packages thoroughly and was surprised that all the high end tech had moved from the 17s/LEDs to the Solar/Leather. I wanted the Solar/Leather but feel forced into paying for some of the (cool) toys that I'll likely never use - radar cruise, IPA.

There is the option to add leather onto Package C, but I've heard that it's better to stick with a set package that has leather then to ever add it as an option. I also wanted the better seats that people have mentioned in their write-ups.

I also didn't notice until I had the form in front of me that my soon-to-be Blizzard Pearl is an upgrade paint. argh.

Yup. Blizzard Pearl is a premium 3-coat paint. That's one reason why i'm leaning towards that over Blue Ribbon Metallic.

It's only a few hundred ($225 I believe) which is a lot less than what BMW/MB charges for their metallic paint (and I don't think they have any pearlescent paint). Mazda just charges $105 for all paint on the Mazda3. Not sure if they continued that tradition on the new 2010.

Why would you say that? I was hoping to order a base model with leather as an option. Is that possible? Looking at the order sheets it looks like it.

    Thanks

Ok, please make it easy for me. Toyota should have stuck to TWO types of 2010, not five, argh.

MAX price with ALL the options for the 2010, in Can $
(dealer sticker - excluding paint options, excluding leather, etc)

What's the difference between a Moonroof and a Sunroof ???

Err... I'd like these packages. Previously (or I guess still currently), 2 option packages is ok. There weren't many options and most were standard in the Canadian model. With the 2010 one, there are a lot more options so it's only natural to have more packages to cater to a wider audience. I'm sure there are people who want leather but none of the other stuff or nav only or moonroof only. Why make them pay for a fully loaded one?

A moonroof is a glass opening with a sunshade that can tilt and slide
A sunroof is a solid piece of metal that can tilt and slide

IOW, a moonroof is like an extra window.

Depends... usually they only include the seats and not the armrests or the steering wheel. In addition, the factory leather seats come with power lumbar support.

Oddly enough, the dealer-installed leather seats come with 2-stage heated seats and the factory ones don't. Why? It's the same for the Camry.

Of course Tideland beat me to it.

The leather is definitely an option on the other packages. My dealer estimated it to be about $1800 based on other Toyotas.

Not sure if it's just the power lumbar support or simply a different design but nearly everyone who has taken out the leather option has mentioned the more comfortable seat.

Any Canadians hear news of when demos might be available to test drive? I know there are some at the Toyota Canada offices already but my connections aren't good enough to snag a ride.

Your local dealer is the only way. That's why I had to take a trip down to LA in Mar to get a test drive otherwise I'll be waiting til June.

I received a copy of the Canadian Vehicle Ordering Guide from my dealer. It's the most complete listing of specifications I've seen yet, I hope you all find it useful.

Interesting... I'm just wondering why I haven't received one from Toyota as they've promised me they'll send me the features and specs when they're finalized.

Does anyone know if we can upgrade the 2010 Tech Pack model with 17" rims? Would there be a technical reason why they couldn't be purchased separately from Toyota and added on later?

I think once sales of 2010 go full swing, then all accessories etc and rims will be available for purchase after...thats the way I'll be heading.
