Does anyone know what a dealer would pay at auction for a used Prius? For example: a 2007 pkg. 6 with 20,000 mi. 1 owner.

I'm trying to figure out the price difference between wholesale and retail.

I don't think it is that easy. Dealers send cars to auctions that won't sell. IMO a Prius in decent shape shouldn't sit on any dealer's lot so if it is going to auction there may be something wrong with it.

Most of the late model cars in cluding Pri at dealer auctions are of lease vehicles and an occasional maufacturer owned vehicle. Also the big rental companies only keep their cars for a short period (like 6 months) then send them back to the auction.

Don't know if this info will help you at all because I don't know what my dealer paid for it....but I bought my 2007 package #5 from a small auto lot in Kentucky (via EBAY), and he picked it up at an auto auction in Florida. (He sells mostly Audis/sportscars/etc on his lot) My Prius had been a lease return vehicle, is in EXCELLENT shape, had 30,500 miles on it, and I got it for 16,600. Way better than the Toyota dealers in my area sell for. I had been looking at used 07's and 08's, with minimal packages, they wanted 19K+ up here in Washington state....

Hope you find what you are looking for! :)

Thanks for that info. My guess is a dealer would pay about $15,000 at an auction.
