Hybrid Drivers Stay Free at Ithaca’s Eco B&Bs Ithaca, N.Y. (March 31, 2009)—Hybrid vehicle drivers can reduce their carbon footprint and save money this spring with free lodging at four eco-friendly B&Bs in Ithaca. The green properties, which range from a luxury garden yurt to a repurposed 1850s barn, are offering hybrid drivers a free night’s stay to reward them for choosing an alternative vehicle while encouraging other motorists to travel green. “At our B&Bs, we’ve made a commitment to sustainable lifestyles and this is a small way we can encourage travelers to do the same,” said Elan Shapiro, owner of Frog’s Way at EcoVillage, one of the participating B&Bs. “By switching to hybrids, people are making a positive change in the world. A free night of lodging is a simple way for us to say thanks, we share your vision.” The participating B&Bs are: Climbing Vine Cottage—An elegant, ecologically friendly yurt that sleeps six, set on 18 acres amid a lush discovery garden. www.climbingvinecottage.com, (607) 564-7140. Frog’s Way B&B at EcoVillage—An ecologically designed B&B in EcoVillage, Ithaca’s 174-acre sustainable community. Three guest rooms, shared kitchenette stocked with delectable, local organic foods. www.frogsway-bnb.com, (607) 275-0249 Turtle Dreams—A groovy, low-impact B&B with indoor accommodations in a repurposed 1850s barn, and outdoor accommodations in a family-friendly tipi village. www.dreamingturtles.com, (607) 838-3492. Wild Goose B&B at EcoVillage—A cozy three-bedroom B&B in Ithaca’s sustainable EcoVillage community. Omnivore, vegetarian and vegan breakfasts. Child friendly. www.wildgoose-bb.com, (607) 272-0953. The free offer is good on stays of two nights or more through Mothers Day (May 10). Regular rates apply to subsequent nights (range $65-$150, depending on property). Availability is limited, advance reservations required. The offer is open to owners, drivers, renters and lessees of more than 1 million hybrid vehicles registered in the United States and Canada. Less than a half-day’s drive from most of the metro Northeast, Ithaca is a progressive community known for breathtaking gorge waterfalls, outstanding recreation and liberal thinking. Home to Cornell University and the famous Moosewood Restaurant, the city’s rich culture, fine lodging and great dining make it an ideal base for any Finger Lakes wine country getaway. Travel and lodging information is available at VisitIthaca.com or (800) 284-8422. There is also the Green Grand Prix at the Watkins Glen race track May 3. It's about 45 minutes from Ithaca. Sounds like a great weekend getaway for Prius owners!
