On the new 2010 Prius, the spoiler appears to be some shade of dark gray or black (I can't tell for sure). Has anyone given any thought to painting the spoiler on their current Prius darker to make it more like the 2010 styling?

The new spoiler is a very shiny dark surface, not black paint, and I suspect it will scratch easily. But there's no stopping anyone from painting their current one.

I think I might actually try this. Do you guys think the magnetic gray paint would be close?

I'd say it's darker than that.

Yeah I suspect so. My smart has a rear panel in that same similar piano black finish. It has a few swirl marks that I've covered up with a bit of sealant/glaze and paste wax but it's not going to stay that way forever. The only way is if you put the 3M film on it.

    Thanks for the feedback.

So if I were to use the Prius black paint, I think the clearcoat black I see on Prius pictures seems to come pretty close to the piano black finish you were referring to. On paintscratch.com though they offer the Prius paint in two blacks, the 202 (black) and the 39563 (ultra gloss trim black). What's the difference between the two? Is one a discontinued paint color? Both apparently require clearcoat, according to the site.

202 is the colour named "Black". No idea what the 5-digit one is.

I'd use self adhesive black vinyl which will give you the desired gloss, and would be a reversable mod if you want to take it back to stock.
You will need to heat the vinyl to allow it to stretch to the shape and get a smooth finish. Use a hair dryer.
