And in return you get the cheapest starting price in the world for Prius. In return for that the USA is the most enthusiastic market in the world for Prius.

Toyota Australia, are you reading this?

If you put the car in reverse, does the side view mirror tilt lower to see the curb and tires? The power mirrors are there already. Would additional programming add extra cost?

I've wondered that same thing as well... My Acura did the lowering of the passenger right side mirror and living in NYC, as you would agree, it was helpful at times. Something easy to do, costs really nothing, and is just another feature they could add onto their list of things the car can do.

Well it was available as an accessory in Japan with the auto-folding mirrors. naterprius did that add-on along with the tilt-down mirror IIRC.

Again it is added cost. I'd like power folding mirrors but they've removed that long ago. I'm just happy it has folding mirrors as you may noticed that recent Toyota cars are getting fixed mirrors.

ooh... this could be the one!

Oh yeah, auto-folding mirrors would add cost no doubt, but as mentioned just having the mirror move down when the car is placed in reverse and then move up again once placed back in drive or park really shouldn't add cost. It's just some computer code somewhere right?

Anyways, the auto folding mirrors imo are good for big yukons, escalades etc here in the city when squeezing by or parking on narrow Brooklyn streets but on a Prius... Nice to have but definitely not a necessity and something I can understand them saving the cost on..

I'm actually not too sure about the auto-tilt but your suggestion makes sense (in terms of software upgrade).

True true. It's just easier than walking around to the other side all the time. Yes parking is getting narrower and narrower.

Pat,i have the signal mirrors with autofold mod done on my 06,i got mine from Edward at Sigma but you can get the covers on Ebay,as far as i'm aware those mirrors were made for JDM market and if your car is a JDM colour you can get them already painted and most importantly will suit a RHD car.
